As an introvert, I heavily isolate myself even from the few friends I have. Sasa kuna huyu mmoja huongea through WhatsApp status. He's the type to not say what is bothering him but will post a related post or meme. The typical, "I will not call you or text you, if you don't call me first. I have stopped putting myself in places I'm not appreciated" yada yada. Kinda gen x of him.
It was sorta cute at first but now it's annoying. I texted him 'happy birthday' after accidentally tapping his status and seeing his post, 'thank you to all those that wished me happy birthday 🎂🎈'. I guess birthdays are a big thing for Nairobians 🤷. That was two days ago, text ata haijasomwa but he's still posting stories on IG and statuses on WhatsApp.
Am I being ignored for not wishing him earlier or sending a gift? Like, I am not selfish or anything. I just feel like gifts should mean something. We've barely known each other for a year and I feel like he wasn't supposed to expect a gift from me because we haven't known each other for that long.
My go to move when a 'friendship' gets to this point is to block and delete but I don't want to do that yet. The mind reading bs is what I hate doing and also the ignorance of texts. It's so childish. Anyway, I'll give it a week and then if he doesn't respond, that will be a response.
