Direct Report is trying to get me fired!

Started at a company after a $90k relocation to learn that one of my direct reports is giving her all to get me fired.

When interviewing I was advised that a Supervisor was interim Manager for a year before I was hired. While this can be a red flag, with 30+ years, I figured that I could deal with it.

On day 1 she told me that it took her 19 years to learn what she’s learned at the company and she learned it all on her own. She implied that she was not going to assist me in any way. Months later, I’ve learned why she wasn’t selected for my job (chronic dropping the ball and zero responsiveness to anyone including customers and numerous other issues).

I later learned that she was successful with routing out the last two persons in my position and has made it clear to me that I wrongly took her job.

Now, on a daily basis she, hides information from me, almost never responds to emails and IMs and goes out of her way to make decisions that are not hers to make.

Meanwhile, she is doing very poorly with covering her real responsibilities. I have brought the issues to Management who is hesitant to do anything because of her knowledge of the company historically and the relationships that she has developed with corporate in Ireland.

Extremely frustrating and can’t see how I can fulfill the 2 years to get out of my $90k obligation.

I welcome any ideas!

Thanks.
