"Sticker shock" at prices of sticker stands/displays

Sorry for the dad joke 😅.

I'm new to designing and selling stickers at events and festivals, and I'm quite surprised by how expensive sticker stands are! Doesn't matter what materials they are... acrylic, paper, wood, etc. - all of them are quite pricy, even with Amazon Prime Deals! I've also seen. some templates you can buy from Etsy for laser printing, but that's a whole different cost.....

I'm hoping the community can share where they get their stands from, neat tricks to lower the costs, and some DIY suggestions.

Many thanks!!!

Title not available when retailer tried to make an order

I reached out to my local Barnes & Noble store and asked them to place a small order for my book. The manager told me that he wasn't able to order them and the title wasn't available. Another store was able to successfully order 5 copies a few weeks ago, and said store manager was able to see that order. Something seems to have changed since that time. Has anyone experienced the same thing?

IngramSpark retail customer & compensation questions...

I'm a self-published author using IngramSpark as a wholesale platform. I notice that my book was picked up and a few printed copies were ordered, but it doesn't show who bought the book (upon research it's due to privacy reasons).

Questions:

- What's the best way to find out who made the purchase?

- Would the purchases increase ranking within IS so it becomes more visible for other retails?

- Typically how long does it take for IS to payout compensation?

Thank you!

What project management tool to use for 1 person?

I'm starting my business and needing a project management tool to help plan for different work activities. I've used plenty of PM tools at work but I'm surprised by how limiting their free tiers are - Monday.com, Asana, Wrike. I tried Clickup and it's just too different.

I just need something super simple - project, tasks, subtasks, status, start date and due date, filters. Custom fields and timeline view are nice to have but not required. I haven't found a free tier service that have all that. And most tools don't give you just one seat. I'm curious how everyone's managing their work and projects.

Best custom sticker printer

Did a search in this sub and am surprised that I couldn't find a thread on best custom sticker printer (at least not recently anyway). Which sticker printer do you like? As a small biz, I'm, of course, looking for high quality vinyl stickers with competitive pricing. Hologram or grow in the dark finishings are nice but I don't plan on doing them in the beginning. So good old fashion custom stickers.

I've seen Sticker Swan, Jukebox (sadly they're in Canada and I don't want to deal with tariff), Sticker Mule (hm no), Sticker Giant, Sticker App, Stickerine...

Also, do most charge a setup fee?

Shirt / T-shirt samples

Hi all, what's the best way to get shirts or t-shirt samples from printers like Ninja, Custom Ink, Printful for a low cost? I want to test out different fabrics but I haven't found an economic way to do that cheaply with small quantities (eg, 1 per fabric type).

General or product liability insurance

How many of you small apparel business owners (solo props) have general or product liability insurance? Especially when you first started. Curious how common it is among early stage startup.

Should I form a SP now and convert to LLC later, or just get an LLC now?

I'm starting a small ecommerce business in WA and trying to figure out if I should establish it as a solo proprietary or LLC. I don't anticipate making a lot of money at the beginning. From a risk standpoint, my business (apparel) is relatively low risk.

SP is less paperwork, cheaper and less hassle. But no personal liability shield.
LLC has a lot of paperwork filing, more regulations, more expensive, and need a register agent (for privacy reason).

I know there're more steps if I switch from SP to LLC later, given the business is profitable. Should I just take the plunge now and form an LLC, or take the easy route and make it a SP?

PostScan Mail

Has anyone used PostScan Mail as their registered agent? I'm curious about your experience. They cost about the same as local and national services. But what I like about them is the ability to pick up mail from your "office location".
