Honest question.. Why do so many 'Brothers' decide to NOT wear gloves?

I grew up racing dirt bikes. I have owned scooters, 'crotch rockets' and other bikes over the years. Got older and bought my first Harley and I'm never going back.

But my question still remains.. Who do so many Harley riders refuse to wear gloves? I feel like if one goes down, the first thing they'd do is try to catch themselves. That means hamburger meat palms and it makes my skin crawl to think about that.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
