"Recording Started" - Is this busted?

Bought this in March, has done this constantly to the point Ive just had to unplug it because it drives me insane. Was purchased new and is using a Sandisk High Endurance 512gb card. Its directly powered by way of USB-C direct to car adapter port in rear view mirror.

Im not sure if the device is busted or if its SUPER specific and requires a viofo SD card but I dont want to drop another 30-50 bucks only to find out the dashcam itself is junk.

Has anyone run into this? Solution? Going crazy.

Worth mentioning that I do live in the south, it gets upwards of 100+ degrees lately and the car sits outside most of the day. I imagine the cabin gets north of 130. At that point I wonder if any dashcam could stand up to that kind of constant heat....

Any help would be appreciated!!

Cracks on Fiber Cement Board Siding

I know this isnt r/siding but thought I might find some help here. I recently moved into a new home and noticed there are a few boards that get more sun than the rest of the house and have started to crack. Inspector flagged it but said I shouldnt really have to worry about it because the house is wrapped/watertight but that seems...hopeful.

I wasnt sure if these few cracks warranted full on replacing or if this is something I could patch/repair myself (and if so, how/with what).

Appreciate any help, thanks guys-

Gap between window and trim, fill?

I just purchased this house and after doing a quick walk around I noticed that a few windows have a bit of a gap between the top of the frame, and this border/trim piece. Should I go ahead and fill that? If so, with what, silicon caulk?

House was built in 2017, inspector didnt flag it, no issues otherwise but seems...wrong. Would definitely like to hear what y'all have to say. Thank you!

Libernovo Omni SE - One Mans Journey

In case someone else is out there getting bombarded by ads on insta wondering if a 600+ dollar chair is worth it, allow me to help you arrive at a decision through what has been an...unusual journey to say the least.

A few years back I was lucky enough to find a company (remote) that provided a $200 credit per year for ergonomic supplies for a home office. This could be spent on really anything, so long as it was justifiable. For over a decade now I had been using a Herman Miller Aeron that I basically stole from my last job when I left. Its an incredible chair that I would recommend to anyone, but its squat, wearing out, and I'd noticed I was developing neck issues so I decided to use the credit towards an Omni.

I decided against the Pro because I dont need a lithium battery powered chair that massages me. Nor do I need an electric powered knife that cuts my turkey, or an Roomba to vacuum my floors. To me, its overkill. I saw the SE was coming out which addressed many of the issues of the Pro, so I waited.

My first mistake was signing up as an early bird. As the email stated, I should have gotten a 30$ off code plus a gift set. The code only worked if you spent a thousand dollars or more (which I didnt recall being stipulated) and I did not receive a gift set when I ultimately purchased my SE. So, strike one for Libernovo.

The chair arrived relatively quickly and without issue. Plus 1 Libernovo.

I was able to follow the instructions and install it easily in about 20 to 30 minutes. I sat down, immediately started tweaking it, and was generally pretty pleased. I went to stand up to use the bathroom and the chair rocketed back up to the max height position. Befuddled, I sat down and sank back down to the lowest height setting. I tried using the levers but nothing worked. It sank like the Titanic every time.

Frustrated, I decided to burn a few gallons of water and asked Gemini who pointed me to several articles of other users having the same issue. Namely here and here. Strike 2, Libernovo. Annoyed, but with hope in hand, I deconstructed the chair I just constructed down to its bones, loosened the screws about 2 full rotations, and pressed on the backing plate a few times until suddenly the lever started clicking. Convinced whatever I did worked, I put the chair back together. Happily, the problem was fixed and I could lock the height now.

Several days went by and I started to feel the dreaded 'bottoming out' others have described. It was...tolerable, but I knew that in a few short months this cushion would feel as thin as paper on my bony behind. And so I reached out to customer support.

Support has been nothing short of fantastic, albeit a bit... discombobulated. At first they tried to tell me it would improve if I sat farther back. Thats true, but the lumbar in the spine basically pushes you forward, away from the 'harder spot'. After trying it for a few days, I couldn't take it anymore and wrote back. They told me I had two options, get a replacement seat, or keep the old one and get a 'gift package'. I was never told what was actually in the gift package but...stick around for more on that. Obviously, I chose the seat.

About a week went by and a box arrived at my door containing a seat. I unboxed it and while it was...improved, it was only slightly. Magically, as if timed, I received an email from Libernovo telling me what Id received was a pre-production model that they did not mean to ship. Seems like a pretty expensive oops to send a 30+ dollar seat from China to the US on accident but...alright. They told me to sell it or give it away and, to make up for this most grievous of errors, they would actually be sending me the gift pack.

Huzzah.

Another week goes by and I received an email telling me my seat was delivered but nothing was at my door. I checked my tracking number and it said it was delivered a week go and left at my door. I emailed again. Once again they wrote back and apologized that the order was still pointing at my 'pre production model' and I never got the actual tracking information for the correct seat but 'it should arrive soon'.

Finally, the new seat arrived and immediately I could feel the difference. This is more akin to a car seat whereas the original was almost more like a seat pad than an actual cushion. Excitedly I went to remove the old seat and install my new firmer seat when I realized ... I had no idea what I was doing. There was nothing else in the box. No instructions, no tools, nothing. Just a plastic wrapped cushion. It took me about a half hour of analyzing how the thing was built to ultimately figure it out (hint: the last two screws you are looking for are hidden underneath the security sticker....) but I was able to get it installed.

I can confirm that the new seat is much, much better and they should 100% make this the default production model seat. Its night and day.

Now, journey aside, some thoughts on the chair.

Is it comfortable? Yes, absolutely. The sheer number of ways that you can adjust and manipulate the seat is the best Ive ever seen. The lumbar is one of the more comfortable Ive used without being overly 'pokey'. I want lumbar support, I don't want a watermelon in my coccyx shoving me off the edge of the seat. Its good. I, personally, dislike headresets so I wont be using it much but it is, again, highly adjustable and comfortable. I like that I can lay flat, lock it in various reclined positions, and - most of all - elevate the arm wrests to where I need them.

Now, two things I do not like about the Omni SE. First, its warm. I live in the south, my house is air conditioned, its not that big a deal but it is noticeably hotter than the mesh seat of my Aeron. Not so much that Im like 'man I gotta get out of this chair!' but it is warmer. Second, it lacks the one single feature that I perhaps love the most of any office chair. Tilt. All chairs that sit flat, particularly reclining chairs, will inevitably force to slide, ever so slowly to the front of the seat. Tilting allows you to use gravity to push you back into the seat naturally so you stop feeling like you're slipping or falling off. This chair cannot tilt so I strongly advise getting the foot rest. The foot rest helps (and its actually really good) but its not perfect.

A note on quality - don't buy this thinking just because you're spending 600-1000 dollars you're getting aerospace grade aluminum and carbon fiber. Its a metal and plastic office chair. In fact, its mostly plastic. It will squeak, wear out, and fail over time. Do I think this chair is worth 600 to 1000 dollars? Absolutely not. There is nothing ground breaking here. Its the same gas lift and roller wheels as every other chair. The cushion is not made of lion skin. The 'spine' is not hand crafted whalebone. Its metal and plastic. Its overpriced. I accept that. Is it a good, supportive chair that will keep you comfortable for years? Yes (minus the cushion...).

And a final word on customer support. While they definitely struggled with the replacement, the order, the shipping, and the comms - at the end of the day, they were super helpful and did all of this for me at no charge. They are clearly trying to fix any bad image they have and do things right so, +1 for whomever is over there trying to right that ship.

Context: 6', 208lb, Omni SE w/foot rest and the larger 48(?) seat

Good luck fellow remote employees. And may we all avoid looking like this guy when we get old.

EDIT: Oh and if anyones curious, the 'gift package' was a canvas tote bag, a silk eye cover for sleep, and a memory foam seat pad you can use wherever.

I routinely lose to Salems and Des Moines and I can't understand why. No matter what ship I throw at it... battleship, cruiser, supercruiser, doesnt matter. It just sits there angled, bouncing everything, slamming improved-AP into your super for 4-7k a salvo every 3 god damn seconds. And the boats to paper thin that anything past like 5km and dispersion puts half the shells on either side of the boat. So most miss, the few that hit bounce, and then you're stuck sitting there with your thumb up your ass waiting for your guns to cycle while it farms you to death.

Like, I can't figure out what the counter to this boat is, I really cant. I've tried switching to HE to farm it down, targeting its guns to slow it down, catching it before it gets in position...literally everything.

This boat is like my damn kryptonite and its just a basic ass tech tree boat. Like I swear to God there is something coded under the hood that is juicing the shit out of this boat because it can basically win every 1:1 against anything less than 457's.
