How the hell do you counter the Skaven nuke?

I’m having my first battles with the Skaven as the High Elves, and every single time I try to fight them I get most of my ranged units wiped out by that nuke ability. I keep trying to keep my eyes open and move my troops out of the way when it pops up, but they’re too goddamn slow. I’m not even keeping them close together! This is so frustrating, and every single goddamn Skaven army has it. My friend told me it was just Ikit Claw who has it.

Ideal troop formations for High Elves?

I’m doing my first Immortal Empires campaign with the High Elves, and I’m stuck with trying to diversify my troop formation. I keep getting stuck into the mindset that results in the above troop placement, and I was hoping to see y’all’s experiences and insight.

I keep the Spearmen to hold the line at the front, Lothern Sea Guard at the flanks, and reserve White Lions to flank around and hit enemies who are bogged down with the main line. Meanwhile, archers sit from behind (and usually uphill) to whittle down enemy lines as they approach, or thin them out if they start routing.

I dunno if this good or not, it’s the only method I use outside of sieges and I really wanna start thinking of other setups, but I’m not sure what works or not. Every time I try something different, the enemy always has alternatives and beats me back and I’m not sure how to utilize what I have now.

How many armies is recommended to field?

I’m just about to finish confederating Ulthuan as the High Elves, all I have left is Yvresse. But every time I confederate a faction, I get overwhelmed because they add at least three other lords and their armies to my roster. But I don’t know what to do with all these guys lol. I had three armies originally, and any more than that is honestly overwhelming and I can’t keep up with them all. But I don’t want to risk too many external threats surrounding me.

How many armies do y’all recommend someone out in the field? Any number of defensive armies for home, and external armies for expansion?

My friend stole from my place of work. Could I be punished for it?

I work at a grocery store, and went to shop on my day off with my sibling and her friend. As we left after checking out, the loss prevention crew took us into their office and had my sibling’s friend hand over some items they’d stolen. I had no idea the friend had done this, and I made sure to let my coworkers know. The friend got processed and banned from the premises.

I’ve never been in a situation like this. Would my job have grounds to fire me or punish me in any way over this?

Why can’t you arrange forces before a quest battle?

I’m trying to do my first quest battles as the High Elves, but it literally will never let me arrange my troops before the battle starts. So now I gotta scramble to get them in position and grouped up before the smell reaches me. This game is so frustrating and confusing, it makes me feel so stupid and I’m tired of it. I feel like I wasted a lot of money and time.

My melee units get stuck on walls during sieges. How do I prevent/minimize this?

(I’m playing as High Elves btw) One of the parts that annoys me most about sieges is taking the walls. I’ll clear them out with artillery and spells, then get my melee units up there to capture them. But by the time the first few are up, the enemy already has lots of reinforcements intercepting them on the wall even after they’ve been cleared. I’m trying to capture the walls so my archers can be safe up there while my infantry does the main fighting on the ground inside the settlement.

The melee units just get bogged down in endless fighting and start routing, no matter what I do. So I never push much farther into the settlement and my stupid coward melee units just end up thinning out and retreating. I can’t hit the enemy with archers because they’re under the wall and the angle sucks, and they’re now in danger close range of offensive spells or artillery.

I’m new and really want to enjoy this game, but sieges are the most frustrating thing and just completely unfun. I spent a lot of money on my first gaming computer solely to play this game, but I’m having such a tough time just to enjoy it.

Do ally factions attack enemies at all?

I’m starting out as the Lothern High Elves in IE, and I love their whole deal. But no matter how good my diplomatic ties are with the High Elf factions around me, they don’t aid me when I need it. I’m trying to take back the southeast from the stupid vampires, but Ellyrian won’t attack the target I have set up for him.

It’s been five turns, and I’ve had to re-load prior saves twice because Ellyrian gets their useless ass annihilated. I can’t possibly build up enough troops to take on the vampire counts at the southeastern capital, even with a full army. But none of the other factions actually help in battle. Goddammit. I just want to give this game up, nothing ever adds up no matter what guides or advice I adhere to.

WH3: How do you abandon a settlement?

I’m sorry to bother y’all with another super dumb question. I don’t have any friends who play this game to direct this to. But how do you abandon a settlement? I see it mentioned that you just need to demolish a settlement’s main building, but I never see that option. I see it for smaller buildings though.

It pisses me off every single time my settlement garrisons are never bolstered enough and it always results in a complete steamroll. I just want to abandon a settlement if the enemy is close so I don’t have to go through the rage and humiliation of losing another goddamn battle in real time. Oh boy, I sure do love having five fucking Dark Elf armies parading across my one and a half provinces at turn 20, while my main army takes forever to recruit for. Oh can’t forget also the wonderful time of not getting any new military units cuz the buildings take fucking FOREVER to construct, and they get sacked at least twice before they’re all done.

Such a fun fucking time.

Is everything in this goddamn game a fucking steamroll? Fuck.

I’m playing Realms of Chaos as Khorne, but this is the worst time I’ve ever had playing a game. Every time I try to play, I keep getting completely outnumbered by like two or three armies as I’m trying to recover after multiple armies fuck up my second army. My main army as Skarbrand can barely do anything without every single one of my settlements getting destroyed.

I can only unlock like four unit types, but every time I try to build a second army I get surrounded by three enemy armies with five times as many troops, and they attack before my garrison is fully built up. Can you even do anything as this stupid faction? Is the whole game like this? None of the advice people have given me works at all.

I’m sorry if I’m whining or sound like an idiot. I truly am. This just doesn’t make any sense to me, no matter how much I read or learn. Goddammit. I spent so much money on a laptop to play Steam games cuz I thought the lore and world of Warhammer was so cool, but every time I try something in this game I can’t have any fun or do well at all.

Why can’t I attack this enemy sieging my settlement?

I’m starting out as the Exiles of Khorne but having a very hard time adjusting to playing as them. I can barely replenish my main army, cuz I’m told to just constantly attack but my armies keep running low. I’m trying to put this second army into effect, but my main capital is under attack and I can’t fight the person attacking it for some reason.

This feels really weird and I just don’t know what to do. Sorry if I sound stupid.

Edit: I don’t understand the downvotes. I acknowledge it’s probably stupid to ask, I’m really new to this game and these types of games in general. I’m trying to understand but there’s SO many tiny little things to learn that it’s overwhelming. I’m sorry I seem to have pissed people off. Guess that’s what you get for asking questions. Fuck.

Game is stuck and won’t change when I follow the instructions. Why can’t I start this battle?

Im at the Dervingard battle of the prologue. As the screen shows, it keeps directing me to change the position of my units. I’ve done this like two dozen times, carefully positioning them to the best of my knowledge. But it never changes from this screen. What am I doing wrong? I’m doing exactly as it instructs, ordering my units into precise positions. Does it have to be a certain way? I just started this game and am already so very confused.

I’m sorry if I seem dumb or like I’m ignoring basic facts about the game, I’m just so confused and don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’d greatly appreciate any help.

Edit: Managed to get it to work…somehow. Ended up with a pyrrhic victory, I probably suck and don’t know how to make myself not 😅

Is this black mold? Should I notify my complex or attempt o clean it myself?

I’ve noticed this grimy buildup in my bedroom window sill for a while. I thought it was just dust upon first glance, but it looks like mold. The window sills are often moist here so it’s probably because of that.

Is this something I can clean myself? Or does it need a professional? I’d greatly appreciate any advice or insight, as I’ve never dealt with anything like this, and don’t want to risk my complex blaming this on me. Thank you.

Should I buy from the ASUS store or elsewhere?

I’m looking to get my first gaming laptop. I’ve decided on the ROG Strix G16, as my friends in the PC sphere say it looks like a solid option, and I’m finding it on sale. But I wanted to ask yall folks experienced with the brand. Is the official ASUS store reliable to buy from, or would I have better luck buying from a retailer like Best Buy?

I ask partially cuz I prefer to buy electronics in person than risk them getting messed up in shipping, but the prices are considerably different at both sites. Thank you for reading!
