SL3 got me good.
Well, the Achilles heel of the SL3 got me good last night. I’ve been shooting a series of Rodeos, levering my work on each one to gain access on the next. Last night I finally got total access and I got to get in the loading chute area where bull riders mount the bulls in the tight pin, wait with a furious 1200lb bovine between their legs and bam!—the gate opens and they’re hanging on for dear life.
I shot the sh*t out of it—a high school champion psyching himself up while waiting, three different riders mounting and riding, all shot from within the pin, standing up above them while balancing against the fence panels. I got them laughing, pumping each other up, ribbing each other and even whimpering after getting kicked in the ribs. And of course crazy good angles as the gate opens and they’re flying into the arena in front of a bananas crowd.
I had the time of my photographer life in about 45 minutes, periodically checking the shots and adjusting. Tell you one thing, if you shoot rodeo, bring every mobile dust cleaning implement you have!
I got home and couldn’t wait to get a sneak peak, plugging my Lexar into my Mac. These were the shots I’d been waiting to get. This was it.
Nothing.
Nothing. Restart everything.
Nothing.
Somehow, someway, that card seems to have lost every single file and because Leica only uses one slot, there is no redundancy. It’s wild that a beyond pro level camera only has one SD card slot. Wild.
Leica, YOU HAVE TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM.
