Looking for horror/survival game recommendations (Console only).

I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone and branch out into a new genre of games. Lately I've been getting bored with my current catalog, so I figured I'd give horror/survival games a shot.

What are your favorite horror or survival horror games for Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5? Console recommendations only, since I don't have a PC.

I'm open to pretty much anything—psychological horror, survival horror, action horror, indie games, whatever—as long as it's a great experience. I'm looking for games with a creepy atmosphere, solid gameplay, and moments that genuinely keep you on edge.

What would you all recommend for someone who's trying to get into the genre?

BRZ (1st or 2nd Gen) or VA WRX STI? Coming from a MK7 GTI — need opinions

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to decide between a BRZ (either 1st or 2nd gen) and a VA WRX STI.

I’m coming from a manual MK7 GTI and looking for a replacement. I’ve really enjoyed the GTI, but I want something more raw and engaging.

After driving a BRZ, I honestly loved it so much that I don’t even mind the drop in horsepower if it means I get to own one. It felt super connected, light, and just way more engaging than what I’m used to.

I work at a Subaru dealership, so I’m around both cars a lot, and this is how I’m looking at them:

BRZ (1st or 2nd Gen)

Just feels really connected and fun in a simple, pure way

Light, low, and makes even normal driving enjoyable

Cheaper and easier to live with long-term

I’ve also heard they do fine in snow with proper winter tires, and I don’t mind driving something like that in Ohio winters

VA WRX STI

Way more aggressive and exciting overall

Love the sound, power, and presence

AWD is obviously great for Ohio winters and bad weather

But I know it’s more expensive to maintain and modify

If it helps context-wise, I’m single, have no kids, and still very young, so I’m mainly focused on driving experience and enjoyment over practicality.

For people who’ve owned or driven both:

Which one kept you happier long-term?

Which felt better coming from a GTI?

Was the STI worth the extra cost in real life?

If you had to choose again, which would you pick?

Thanks for any insight.

EDIT: Im not sure if this helps but, btw I dont necessarily need another 4 door car. I rarly use that hatchback practicality of my gti anyway.

5W-40 vs 5W-30 for a Stock Daily-Driven STI – Worth It for Reliability?

Hey everyone,

I'm planning on buying a VA WRX STI in the future, and I've been researching oil viscosity quite a bit.

The car will be completely stock, with NO TUNE or POWER modifications, and it'll primarily be used as a DAILY DRIVER. My biggest concern is reliability and long-term engine health rather than performance.

Subaru recommends 5W-30, but I've noticed a lot of STI owners and tuners run 5W-40 instead, even on relatively stock cars. From what I've read, people claim it offers better protection for the EJ257, especially under high load and higher oil temperatures.

A few questions:

What are the real-world benefits of running 5W-40 over the factory-recommended 5W-30?

Does it actually provide better bearing protection, or is that mostly internet myth?

Does 5W-40 help reduce oil consumption on these engines?

Are there any downsides besides a small hit to fuel economy?

If the car is staying stock and untuned, would you still recommend 5W-40?

Has anyone here daily-driven a stock STI on 5W-40 for a long time?

My understanding is that the potential benefits include:

Better oil pressure when fully warmed up

Stronger oil film strength at operating temperature

Better resistance to thinning during spirited driving

Potentially less oil consumption

That said, since the car would be stock and mostly used for commuting and normal daily driving, I'm curious whether 5W-40 is genuinely beneficial or if sticking with Subaru's recommended 5W-30 is the smarter choice.

For those with high-mileage STIs or years of ownership experience, what has worked best for you and why?

Thanks! Looking forward to hearing your experiences.

5W30 or 5W40 for FA20 BRZ longevity/reliability? (Daily driven only)

I’m planning on getting an early-model Subaru BRZ with the FA20 and I’ve been trying to figure out what oil viscosity would be best for long-term reliability and engine longevity.

The car will be:

Daily driven only

No track driving

No drifting

Mostly normal street driving with occasional spirited pulls

Goal is to keep the motor healthy for as long as possible

I’ve seen people recommend both 5W30 and 5W40 for these motors, especially because of the FA20’s reputation and oil temp concerns.

For people who actually own or have owned an FA20 BRZ/FR-S/86:

Which oil viscosity have you had the best experience with?

Does 5W40 actually help longevity/reliability for a daily driver?

Or is 5W30 the better option since the car isn’t being tracked?

Any specific oil brands you trust most for these engines?

Just trying to build the cleanest and most reliable high-mileage BRZ possible.

EDIT- I live in ohio so it gets really really humid and hot out here in the summer but freezing in the winter. Hope this helps

Gen 1 FA20 Owners — What ACTUALLY Caused Your Engine Failure?

I’m curious to hear from Gen 1 Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S / Toyota 86 owners whose FA20 blew up or developed serious engine issues.

What was the actual cause?

Oil starvation?

Low oil level?

Bad tune?

Boosted setup?

Spun bearing?

RTV issue?

Track use?

High mileage?

Abuse from previous owner?

Random failure on a stock car?

Also include:

Model year

Mileage when it happened

Stock or modified

Manual or auto

How often you maintained it

Whether you tracked or beat on the car often

Trying to separate internet horror stories from the real-world causes behind most FA20 failures.
