Longma Conversion Tips

I didn't know what flair to put this in, but I was wondering if someone could help me with this. I decided to buy the Longma rider kit to paint for fun and I don't like the way it looks with wings. Problem is, when I remove them, the area where they should be looks kind of bare. Does anyone have advice on how to either cover those spots or make scales from greenstuff?

I should also mention that I'm new to trying to convert minis in general.

Michelle Guinevere Moon/Geomijul

I decided to type up something for Michelle, Penny's best friend/crush. I'd really appreciate feedback and any questions that'll help me flesh her out.

Backstory:

  • Michelle’s parents are Albert and Helena Moon, a pair of Korean American geneticists.
  • Like her best friend Penny, she gained her powers from the bite of a genetically modified spider when she was 15.
  • After gaining control of her powers, Michelle made her debut as Geomijul and enjoyed the attention she got from fighting crime.
  • Her first team-up with Shadow-Spinner came when Tombstone and his crew attacked Midtown High. Seeing the other Spider in action inspired her to take being a superhero more seriously.
  • Shadow-Spinner and Geomijul work together on multiple occasions after that, with Michelle's organic powers inspiring Penny to make variations of her web formula.
  • At some point, Michelle learns that Penny had been Shadow-Spinner the entire time and the two of them team up permanently.

Powers:

  • Michelle possesses the standard set of powers expected of a Spider-Hero; superhuman physical abilities, wall-crawling and the Spider-Sense. However, her Spider-Sense is a bit different from Penny’s, since it has a greater range and can sense the identity of attackers..
  • Michelle has the ability to produce organic webs from her fingertips. The silk she produces has many of the same physical properties of standard web-fluid, but she's learned she can spin it into different types of webbing, including some that can be woven into objects

Trivia:

  • She picked the name Geomijul partly because she liked how it sounded, but also because her first choice, Arachne, felt too on the nose.
  • Her full name is Michelle Guinivere Moon. Apparently, one of her parents really liked the Arthurian legends.
  • Since Michelle and Penny were bitten by the same spider, she can sense her best friend’s general location and if she focuses hard enough, and vice versa. Their best theory is that their Spider-Senses operate on similar frequencies.
  • Both of her parents are aware that she has powers.

Penny Braddock/Shadow-Spinner

Making another Spidersona, this one from what's essentially a variant of the Warp World. Penny’s the amalgam of Peter Parker, Betsy Braddock and Kwannon.

I'd really appreciate feedback and any questions that'll help me flesh her out.

Backstory:

  • Penny's parents, Richard and Mariko Braddock, died in a plane crash, leaving her to be raised by her Uncle Ben and Aunt May.
  • She gained her powers when she was 15. During a school trip to an OsCorp lab, she was bitten by a genetically-modified spider. Her best friend (and crush) Michelle was later bitten by that same spider. She eventually realized the bite gave her superpowers.
  • After learning to control her powers, she planned to enter the Joshi wrestling circuit under the name 'Widowmaker', even creating her webshooters to use for entrances.
  • Her canon event was the death of her Uncle Ben.
  • Her first major villains were the Kingpin and Tombstone.
  • At some point, she learns Michelle got superpowers too and they form a crimefighting duo.

Powers:

  • Penny possesses the standard set of powers expected of a Spider-Hero; superhuman phsyical abilities, wall-crawling and the Spider-Sense.
  • However, the spider's bite also activated the dormant X-gene within her DNA, granting her psychic abilities such as telepathy and the ability to manipulate psychic energy to create various constructs from her hands, like webs or blades.
    • Penny's what some would consider a 'low-level' telepath, since she requires physical contact to read someone's mind. Later, she learns she can establish psychic connections to other spider-heroes, something she attributes to her telepathy interacting with her Spider-sense.
    • While her constructs are capable of interacting with physical objects, they require focus to maintain. Penny only uses the psy-webs for webswinging and combat. She rarely uses the blades unless she's fighting robots

Trivia:

  • It's unclear when she decided to use Shadow-Spinner as her superhero name, but it probably came from a Daily Bugle headline.
  • Her full name is Penelope Marie Benikawa Braddock. You can kind of see why she prefers going by Penny.
  • She has strong opinions about anime and manga
  • She makes money as a freelance photographer and occassionally takes cosplay modeling gigs.

Penny Braddock/Shadow-Spinner

Making another Spider-sona, this one from what's essentially a variant of the Warp World. I'd really appreciate feedback and any questions that'll help me flesh her out.

Backstory:

  • Penny's parents, Richard and Mariko Braddock, died in a plane crash, leaving her to be raised by her Uncle Ben and Aunt May.
  • She's bitten by a genetically-modified spider when she's 15 during a school trip to an OsCorp lab. Her best friend (and crush) Michelle would also be bitten by this spider. Over the next few days, Penny would experience strange symptoms, including heightened senses and superhuman physical abilities.
  • After developing her webshooters and mastering her abilities, she planned to enter the Joshi wrestling circuit under the name 'Widowmaker'.
  • Her Canon event was the death of her Uncle Ben.
  • Her first major villains were the Kingpin and Tombstone.
  • At some point, she learns Michelle got superpowers too and they form a crimefighting duo.

Powers:

  • Penny possesses the superhuman powers and abilities associated with baseline Spider-Heroes, including superhuman strength, speed, agility, jumping, reflexes, stamina and durability, a trademark ability to cling to almost any surface, and the precognitive ability to sense danger known as 'Spider-Sense'.
  • However, the spider's bite also activated the dormant X-gene within her DNA. As a result, Penny's a low-grade telepath, requiring physical contact with someone to read their mind. She also has the ability to manipulate psychic energy to form various constructs, such as webs or blades which extend from her fists. These constructs are solid and capable of interacting with physical objects. As a result, she rarely uses her psychic blades.

Miniature Scale

I thought it would be neet to kitbash a bunch of Mandalorians to look like they were based on Ming Dynasty soldiers using some bits from Warhammer Fantasy's Grand Cathay army. So, I just need to know if Shatterpoint minis have similar proportions to Warhammer ones?

Wang Kaiwen/Tarantula Lore Q&A: Ask me anything about him or his Earth and I'll try my best to answer them.

Kai's Earth (which I seriously need to give a number) takes a lot of cues from Tokusatsu shows and anime. So most of the threats heroes face remain at the national or global scale, nothing intergalactic or interdimensional. He got his powers by touching jade talisman in a museum and most of his abilities are done through qi manipulation, which gives him a variant on Miles' Venom Touch and electric webs.

There was a Spider-Man on this Earth, but he's gone.

Armor Bits

I thought it would be neet to kitbash a bunch of Mandalorians to look like they were based on Ming Dynasty soldiers using some bits from Warhammer Fantasy's Grand Cathay army. But I didn't take into account the difference in scale. Does anyone know where I can find armor bits that'd fit a Legion mini? Or should I just abandon the project and admit I wasted money?

Planet Tsolmon

When I first learned about Lancer, I thought it'd be cool to make a planet that was basically the Silk Road in Space. I've never used the planet in a game, but I thought it would be neat to share what I had.

History

The planet Tsolmon was settled during the early days of the Karrakin monarchy’s modernization efforts. However, the first settlers struggled to survive in their new environment. While some of these problems could be attributed to unforeseen equipment failures, most were due to the local wildlife, which was much faster and more dangerous than the initial survey data suggested. In fact, SSC researchers have theorized that generations of conflict with these animals, combined with unforseen anomalies within the settlers' genetic modifications, have resulted in the planet population's heightened senses and reflexes. These adaptations are of great interest to the SSC and several tribes have consented to let the corporation harvest genetic material from them in exchange for resources, provided that neither disrupt their way of life.

Most of the population are content with living a nomadic lifestyle on Tsolmon’s steppes, with the initial landing site being converted into the planet’s first city, Kar-kourum, which is treated as neutral ground by the tribes. While other permanent settlements have been established throughout the habitable zones, construction of other cities didn’t begin until the arrival of two follow-up expeditions launched by the KTB several centuries later. These ships brought with them improved agricultural methods based on more recent survey data provided by the SSC as part of a collaborative venture.

Notable cities founded by these expeditions include Yildirim and New Penglai, which will be discussed at a later date.

Notable Wildlife

Tsolmon is known for several species of megafauna, colloquially known as ‘Avraga’ or ‘Titans’ by the local population, with generations of surviving these creatures gave rise to the adaptations for sharpened senses and reflexes. In order to maintain long-term access to these genetic samples, the SSC covertly work to ensure these species don’t go extinct through conservation efforts and genetic engineering.

Dorj-Chono (Vajra Wolves):

These great wolves were one of the first species of megafauna encountered by Tsolmon’s initial colonists. Growing to an average height of 4ft and an average length of 6ft, they typically hunt in packs, similar to their counterparts on Cradle, using their incredible speed and agility to run their prey down before killing them. Though widely acknowledged as a threat to livestock, many steppe cultures also regard these great wolves as symbols of strength and resilience. As such, are these pelts gifted to visiting Karakkin nobles and are also used as decoration by Lancers who have some connection to Tsolmon.

Mu Shuvuu (Evil Birds):

This avian species closely resembles eagles with an average wingspan of 10 – 11 ft, typically characterized by impressive golden plumage and a head covered by shorter, paler feathers. The Mu Shuvuu hunt by diving at their prey, striking them with their talons closed, similar to the ancient Peregrine Falcons of Cradle. This stuns the prey animal, allowing the Mu Shuvuu to deliver the killing blow with their powerful beaks and talons. When hunting smaller animals, members of this species have been observed carrying them to great heights and simply dropping them. The species’ feeding behavior usually involves tearing into the body cavity to devour the vital organs of their prey, as well as cracking open bones to get at the brain and bone marrow. The Mu Shuvuu represents regality and freedom in cultures that share the mountains of Tsolmon with them. In fact, a common rite of passage involves sneaking up to a roost to steal an egg. In doing so, the youth in question demonstrates several virtues, such as patience, persistence, and composure.

Tsolmon Deer:

A large, cervid-like species which closely resembles the elk with an average height of 6 ft at the shoulder. While both males and females of the species grow antlers, the males of the species typically bear larger and more branched sets. These deer roam the steppes in large herds and represent a key part of the steppe tribes’ diet.

Tsolmon Wild Horse:

A native equine-like species which were used heavily by Tsolmon’s first colonists and continue to be employed by the steppe tribes due to their impressive stamina and ability to handle extreme conditions. These horses are relatively short, ranging in size from 4 – 5 ft, but strong for their size, with a team of four being able to pull loads of 5000 lbs for distances for 50 miles/day under normal conditions. Despite the proliferation of more modern technologies from subsequent expeditions, the steppe tribes still utilize the horse for transport and labor, due to their durability and low cost of upkeep.

Additional Lore

Sunsteel Company:

Hailing from the planet Tsolmon, this free company is mainly composed members of the steppe tribes, though there are several notable squads made of members from the other cultures on Tsolmon, as well as the Sparri diaspora. Once they accept a contract, they use the intelligence provided by the client, as well as their own network of informants, to construct a more comprehensive profile on the enemy, while harassing them with occasional ambushes. When enough information has been gathered, the company engages the enemy in battle.

The company’s combat doctrine focuses on speed and flexibility, meaning they excel at both feigned retreats and hit-and-run tactics. Part of the company’s flexibility is due to squad captains being given a considerable degree of autonomy, with the understanding that their actions shouldn’t jeopardize the operation. While the taking of personal trophies is to be expected, any and all spoils from the campaign are meticulously tallied and equally distributed between the soldiers who took part in it, or the next of kin.
