Hot take, TVD has a significantly more superior back story to TO

TO obviously has better writing and doesn’t drag on, but it lacks a mystery element.

But TVD mysteries

  1. Realizing that Katherine wasn’t in the tomb and bomber? She was running from someone.. hmm what could the crazy Katherine pierce possibly be running from.

  2. Damon and Stephan learning about the existence of lycanthropes.

  3. Klaus coming to town in Rick’s body. (A hot woman once said “Elijah is just the Easter bunny, wait untill meet Klaus )

  4. Finding out Klaus and Stephan are infact thickest thieves

  5. The whole Silas story line was meh but finding out Silas and Amara were the OG Dopple gangers? Bonkers.

  6. Everything else was meh but again the reveals, finding out there’s a (in Damon’s words) Mama Ripper, Rics maid was the other siren, Katherine was new Queen of hell.

The reveals in TVD .. second to none. Altho TO is still a better watch

Stats are overrated

Just looking at ABA reports and way more people get in below BOTH 25th percentiles(not even the medians) at Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Chicago than this sub gives credit for.

The Michigan law TikTok page has this series where they read redacted apps of students ABOVE BOTH medians but never stood a chance of getting it.. recommended watch.

My point is, a good story opens way more doors than Reddit gives credit for. You don’t need a 180 and 4.3 to get into a T14. A good story with a clear spike and average stats will take you significantly further than perfect stats with a generic story.

Edit: really interesting comments. Here’s my addendum.

  1. I’m not saying stats are not important, I’m just saying they’re overrated.

  2. I have Relatives/inside sources at HYS. And yes roughly 10% of the class gets in below BOTH 25th percentiles.. I’m not talking splitters and reverse, I’m talking both.

  3. At Harvard roughly 60-80 enrolled students each year score well below 3.8 and 170. Again no splitters, combined. (What do you think the 180s and 4.3s are there to do? Balance out the class !

  4. No, you don’t have to be Malala or a war hero to get in at any gpa or lsat. You’d be surprised how many of your HYS classmates worked at Starbucks or as baristas full time before coming to T-14.

  5. A good story isn’t necessarily about the uniqueness of the story but the uniqueness of lessons learned and how it shapes your career aspirations. We all lived through Covid but had very different experiences from it.

  6. All From a confirmed inside source. Do with this info what you may. But don’t let Reddit or consultants discourage you from aiming high.
