Race (running) etiquette

Hello. I am an experienced road race runner. All of my previous races have been in the USA, up to marathons. Later this month I am running my first race in Japan, a 10k. If anyone has experience with running races in both countries, I would love to know if there are any differences in running etiquette I should be aware of. From general running advice, I've gathered that the biggest difference is that men do not run shirtless in Japan, which I have never done anway so no issues there.

Just in case you're like me and you had gotten used to ignoring these team release nodes after clearing them, I just realized that these nodes keeping giving orb fragment rewards.

Trying to make sense of sorting bug

I know, right? But here's the scenario. I'm on Cell 9 of Whiplash Tower and I want to see what toons I haven't used, so naturally I sort by "Not on Cooldown." It only shows me Kingo and Maestro. Huh? Scrolling through the full list I still have all of Timeless Eternal, Shadow Conclave, Dread, and a smattering of others available. So why does this particular sort only show me those two toons? Is this one of those situations where the words do not mean what I think they mean?

Spider-Woman (Julia) ultimate ability is incorrect

While working on the RNG to clear cell 39 of Spider-Man Tower, I noticed that Spider-Woman's ultimate was not chaining all the way across the board, and was in fact rebounding chaining (going back to a target that has already been hit in the chain). Not sure which is the "correct" intended mechanic, as written or as it plays, but just a little annoying because it adds more RNG to this node while trying to clear all of the Asgardian's debuffs whereas if it worked as written, it would always hit all 5 of them.

Command Center requires spending Brand New Energy, making fools of us all

You thought that red dot was useless! Jokes on you. There's a Command Center milestone to use 50 of that pointless energy

Trepidation nodes designed to make sims fail

I've seen some people complain about Trepidation node sims failing and I just wanted to post a few things I've noticed about these nodes as a player who has to play them all manually. If you are finding yourself failing sims, I would encourage you to give things a try manually before investing more into your team because these are the kinds of resource traps that should be avoided when possible if you are strapped on gold and tmats.

Hellfire (node 2): If the opening hits from Azazel and Shaw KO an enemy, Azazel feeds energy the team and Emma Frost will open with her ultimate instead of special (which puts Slow on everyone and greatly helps the rest of the fight). Smaller issue, but generally you always want Shaw to be hitting into a vulnerable so you get the striker hit to stun the target.

Insidious 6 (node 4): Franklin put silence on your team and you need Superior Spider-Man to cleanse with his special in order to get Hobgoblin rolling, but SSM gets energy from Shocker and will always open sim with his ultimate, leading to a greatly nerfed opening. The Hellfire situation feels more accidental because it depends on a kill, although it is likelier to happen due to the build priorities on the team. The Insidious 6 one, however, is just how it plays out due to the kits.

Immortal Weapon (node 6): It's long been tradition to open with Sword Master's special over his ultimate. Since I always do this, I don't actually know how badly opening with his ultimate might affect this fight, but I wanted to mention it in case people have encountered sim fails on this node. Steel Serpent may have a similar issue.

Battleworld Zone 3 Bonus Mission 1 character select menu

Please just filter it so that it only shows the relevant toons (4 Diamond). I know I'm not beating this node anway, but I would like to not have to manually scroll through all my toons to find them.

Reminder that this dev diary was published over 4 years ago

February 25, 2022 dev diary. In response to the question "How does the GO Battle League’s matchmaking system work?" Senior Executive Producer Steve Wang said among other things "There is no algorithm that matches trainers based off of selected Pokémon,..."

Just putting this quote back out there to remind y'all of how long this algorithm theory has been floating around, and that this quote is evidence that it doesn't exist. You can choose not to accept this evidence and say that you believe the devs lied to us in this dev diary or that they decided to implement it after this blog and have just never told us.

Shadow buff to Storm (Mighty)

They buffed Storm's passive with "In Crucible, if this character has 3 Exalted X-Men allies, enemies that normally cannot gain Exposed can now gain Exposed..." This invalidates the Gladiator/Lilandra/Odin counters that were designed to keep Exposed off of Odin long enough for him to get his Battlefield Effect.

I've looked around real quick and I can't find any blog update that describes this change. Only the June 3 blog where they originally added the "no BFE when Exposed" bit that originally shut down Odin. The change is definitely new this week as the above counter was working fine last week. At least it's just meaningless U32, but it's pretty bad to put in a buff designed to stop a known counter and not announce it all

UPDATE: After fight 1 of U32, people are reporting that the buff is not live in battles despite the text being in the kit, and that the Odin counter does still work. Somehow they find a way to make this even worse because now we can't even trust what we read in the kits

PSA: Save a bunch of PvP viable Hypno for TM roulette

Right now we've got an intersection of lots of Drowsee spawns for the Spark event with Hypno being quite good in the NAIC Cup format in PvP. Hypno is one of those Pokemon with a whopping 7 charge moves (not including the legacy Return and Psyshock) and a lot of variability depending on the format. Sometimes you want double elemental punch. Sometimes you want to nuke Focus Blast. And even with the most common Punch/Shadow Ball the specific elemental punch you need can change. With the terrible TM system, switching your Hypno's moves between formats can absolutely devastate your charge TM supply. One way around this is to build multiple Hypno and lock their moves in for a specific use. Also, evolve them all first (if you can spare the candy) and see which one starts with at least one of the moves you want. There will still be a lot of roulette up front to get both moves you need, but in the long run this can save you TMs if you use Hypno in different formats

Please change the colors of common and rare essence

I'm not color-blind to my knowledge but I am having a very hard time telling apart the colors for common and rare essence for Trait Boosts. I know that MSF uses this color progression system for everything but the way the icon is drawn with the big white symbol in the middle and the half-and-half shading makes it hard to tell the difference
