Reliable Engine

I've got this pitster pro 200cc that I'd like to get going for my wife and kid. Currently the gy6 style engine needs a piston, head etc. But I'd rather put my money into a better built, more reliable engine. Wife doesn't want to play around with a gear shifter or clutch and it needs reverse. I like the older honda engines but they are hard to find (especially for cheap), how would you set this up? What would you try to drop in to pull small loads, cruise back roads and have decent power? I'm not sure if I want to go down the road of making it shaft drive but I'm comfortable fabricating the frame to make something work. I'd eventually want to add some electric drawing add-ons so a strong enough stator would be something to keep in mind as well

Baja Wilderness 250 (2007?)

Picked up a baja 250 for pretty much nothing the other day not running, got it running and found out something isn't right in the transmission, clunking in first and reverse (5 speed, semi auto) doesn't grab enough to even start rolling. Drained the oil and it looked decent, no excessive metal shavings or chunks. I already pulled off the reverse gearbox, stator cover, and clutch cover and didnt see anything concerning. I don't want to bother pulling the head or splitting the cases but I am curious if there's known issues with the transmission and what could have failed. Depending if I come across anything I might reconsider not tearing into it further.

Hit'n miss/Stationary Engines

Does anybody use any of the antique hit and miss or stationary engines for doing tasks around the property? If you do, what hp is it and what kind of work is it doing for you?

Mcculloch 850

Does anybody know if there's a known way to upgrade how the auto oiling pump mounts? Seems odd that it only takes one screw on the outer side of the pump, unless im missing something? Theres an unused raised threaded part in the casting about halfway up on the right in the oil tank that isnt being used, no parts fell out when I opened it up either. Currently leaking some bar oil into the cylinder.

08 Steering Rack Tips

Getting ready to install a new/reman steering rack in my 08 4.0l auto 4x4 supercab. Just wondering if there's any tips or recommendations I should look into while doing this job. What power steering fluid/atf do you guys use? What am I preventing by flushing the system? Is it worth flushing? Anything I should look out for as far as bad/worn components?

2014 Pitster pro 200cc

Picked this up last night for a good deal, chassis says 200cc but thinking it might be a 150cc gy6 engine. Engine seems to have no markings stamped where they should be. Previous owner said he took the head off due to burning oil. Came with new gasket set and new carb with air filter, fuel filter etc. I'm trying to figure out what engine this is. I'm not familiar with gy6 engines and without the stamped markings I'm not sure how to properly identify it. Anybody have any information on this machine/engine?

89 350 Fourtrax Temperature

I've been driving my recently fixed never been run by me before 350, starts, idles, runs very nice. Oil temp light comes on for afew seconds after key on. I've been feeling like it's been running quite hot. Fan comes on after riding for approx 30min-1hr just around my property and I checked various places on the head with an IR gun which showed 300-350f haven't run it hard at all. Running 15w40 oil, valves were getting oiled when I cranked it over while doing valve adjustment. When the fan is running the oil temp light does not come on. I am going to try and adjust the carb and see if it's possibly running lean. I should add that I'm running it with a knockoff amazon cdi but other than the heat it seems to be running smooth (feel free to give your opinion on if the cdi could be an issue) let me know if you have any suggestions on what I could look into to figure this out.

I'm "bragging"... not my fault this truck is AWESOME

This truck can haul and it hauls well, don't blame me! It's not my fault it's a capable unit!

Ps. You people are funny, judging what is/isn't safe based off some pictures and my brief responses. You kinda need to know the whole picture to determine what's safe, who's safe, and what emergencies are even plausible.

Worn suspension bushings?

The front diff on my 89 trx 350 was in poor shape so it had to be removed, the front left shock mounts to the diff and was seized so solid I actually ended up just chiseling away the diff housing to get the lower shock bolt out. All the effort I put into removing the bolt ruined the bushing though so I took a hockey puck, hole saw, drill, and wood chisel and made a new one. I mounted my drill in the vise with a piece of angle iron to use as a tool rest and mounted the piece of hockey puck I cut out (using the hole saw) with a nut and bolt into the drill chuck and used the wood chisel to carve out a new bushing. Turned out perfect......so I picked up a used vevor mini lathe for future use!

Check your skid plates

As I was fixing up my 89 350 fourtrax I pulled off the front skid plate because it was packed full of stuff and wanted to clean it. Turns out the mud, fertilizer, rocks, moisture etc. Was eating away the diff housing! Luckily I found a generous guy who sold me a complete diff for $60.

I found the limit

I've been testing the towing limit of my Ranger since I've had it, I usually use a 7x14 steel trailer to pick up large loads and today it was a bunch of dirt. I assume it was a 1 yard bucket so 3 yards total. I only drove about 5 miles from my place to pick it up and I'm happy I wasn't any further! Brakes were struggling! But it did it!

89 honda 350 fourtrax saved

So I've posted a few times now about my 89 honda 350 fourtrax, was a mess when I got it. Previous owner tore it apart, Wiring was a mess, had no spark, front end needed a freshen up, plastics are rough etc. Well I managed to figure out the wiring and got it running good. The front end has all new seals, took apart the cv axles and cleaned them up and re-packed them with fresh grease, new fluids all around. Still have more work yet to do both mechanically and cosmetically but it's running and driving and I'm just happy it ended up being worth my time! But I figured it was....it's a HONDA!
