Does PD or Prism help with eye alignment?

So my prescription was that my left eye was +5.25 and my right eye was -1.75 with prism and astigmatism. My left eye is lazy. At my last doctors appointment we have discovered that my left eye has basically no vision power. No lens she tried would make it see clear. So she has decided to try a balance lens but purposely removed the prism. When I asked her about no prism she told me to "just try it."

So I'm trying a balance lens right now of -1.75 with a cheap pair from amazon. So they have no PD in it either since its not custom at all. I have noticed when I first put it on my eyes will align, but after awhile my eye will go lazy. As for double vision its basically the same amount as if I have my prism glasses on, but it is worse when I don't have glasses on. I called them today, and they said it would be the prism that helps the alignment. She said try for two more weeks then call back if I still have issues.

So I did go officially put a prescription in at an eye center and awaiting them to come in, since I can have them change if needed. Am I gonna end up needing to have some prism put back in, or will just getting the my balanced prescription with PD be enough to stop my eye from drifting? I keep seeing mixed things online if prism does or does not play a part in that.

I think I had monocular vision all my life and never realized it.

I didn't have my eyes checked until I was 5 years old, and it was only because my school took pictures. For years now, I have been wearing quite the crazy glasses prescription: +5.25 in my left eye, also lazy, and -1.75 in my right eye. The left eye also causes double vision and I had an extremely strong prism in my lenses, and I still had double vision even with my glasses.

I had my annual eye exam Thursday, where my doctor decided to try something and tried all kinds of lenses in my left eye. Nothing would make it see clear, everything is a blur in that eye. She is now trying me on a balanced -1.75 prescription with no prism, since there's no point in putting all that power in an eye that's not working anyway. Kinda nervous to try it, but again, whats the use if my eye isn't using the prescription anyway.

Thinking back, I realized I've been this way for years, no doctor just decided to look deeper into it like that. I've always noticed I manly see from my right side. I can block my left eye with my hand and see no difference except some peripheral vision.

I just wanted to rant a minute. Even though this has probably going on all my life, just finally realizing my eye wasn't working the entire time like I thought is bumming me out.

Should I consider strabismus surgery?

Ever since I was a child my left eye has been lazy and misaligned and I have worn very heavy prism glasses. My prescription for my left eye is +5.25 with prisms for both eyes as 1BU/4.5BI/1BD/4.5BI (vertical and horizontal prism). At one point the BI numbers were up to 6, but my doctor didn't wanna use so much prism. Also has astigmatism. My double vision is absolutely horrible and not even glasses solves the issue, but helps a lot. My right eye however, is pretty strong standing with a prescription of -1.75. I have had prescriptions like this for 20+ years now (I'm 26).

During my eye doctor appointment yesterday she has discovered that my left eye basically has no vision. Like it can still see, but everything is extremely blurry and no prescription was changing that. She also discovered that my right eye basically has cured itself of its astigmatism. She had me try on a test pair of balanced -1.75 for both eyes, and I saw really clearly where my usual prescription was blurry (but I was also dilated it's normally not blurry). But I only had it on for like 30 seconds, not enough to really test my double vision in them. She wants to change me to balancing lens and do no prism. I mentioned the missing prism but she was very adamant saying "just try it". I did google that this can possibly cure my double vision since my brain will maybe learn ignore the eye. But I absolutely HATE my lazy eye. I'm unsure if she's willing to go the prism route with the balancing if my double vision doesn't get better. And my lazy eye will just get worse if my brain gets trained to ignore it with no prism. My current prisms do make my eyes align when wearing my glasses. She is OK with keeping my current prescription too, which I may do just to not have a obvious lazy eye, but it is very expensive even with insurance. ($183 for JUST LENSES. That does not include frames).

So is there anything really to lose with doing the surgery? I already have horrible double vision and as far as seeing goes the eye is basically useless.

Eye doctor wants to drastically change prescription?

TL;DR at bottom.

To start off, my eyes are extremely complex. When I was in kindergarten, the school took a picture of my eyes revealing I needed glasses. My prescription has typically always stayed the same. I have double vision and a lazy eye, and mixed Anisometropia which will reflect in my prescription pictured.

I have used this doctor since 2023, so she knows my eyes and even made a comment when we first met how she was surprised my brain didn't completely cut off my left eye. She even did a very thorough evaluation just to be sure everything is as it should be. Her prescriptions basically stayed the same as my first childhood into adulthood doctor. Saw her for a routine check up today and had my eyes dilated. When doing the routine lens which is better 1 or 2 test she tested my left eye and nothing she used made it clear. Couldn't read anything. So she had me try on some test frames she had where it was just -1.75 in both eyes. I admitted, I did see better whereas my current prescription is blurry while my eyes are dilated. But my prism only plays a part in things up close (example: my hand, table edges, my phone, keyboards, my speedometer when driving sometimes, etc.) so I couldn't really test that part with them since it was just an empty hallway. My prism is so bad that I still have some double vision with glasses, but not as bad as I would be without it. It is very manageable with my glasses. Even tested myself tonight where I can make something stop doubling with my glasses on almost instantly, but with my glasses off I could not make the double go away even if I really focused.

So today she gave me two prescriptions. She gave me one that is just -1.75 in both eyes, saying I should grab a super cheap pair of glasses and try it out and see how it does. If I hate it there's my usual prescription but no astigmatism on my right eye since she said it "washed out".

So I am willing to give the -1.75 pair a shot, since it seems no matter what nothing worked for my left eye. Plus she said this would make glasses for me in the future much cheaper. What I am worried about though is no prism in it, since I do still have very bad double vision without my glasses and my lazy eye drifts the moment I take my glasses off. When I asked her about no prism, all she did was ask me to look at the paper in my hands, is it doubling? And I said the numbers aren't, but the paper is. And she just said just try it and left it at that.

So basically, after trying this can the double vision and lazy eye basically work itself out? I'm super OCD and would hate to also have eye drift, so I'm OK living with a prism, since I've done it for 21 years now. Or should I try it for a week, and if the clear part is better, ask for a new prescription with the prism included if the double vision and eye drift doesn't resolve? Not sure if astigmatism is needed or not since apparently my right eye doesn't have astigmatism anymore.

TL;DR: Have a lazy eye, double vision, and a very bad farsighted eye and good nearsighted eye. Mostly same prescriptions for 21 years and been with this doctor for 3 years. Doctor wants to change both eye lenses to the nearsighted prescription, but with no prism.

Mystery DNA Match

So I took a test and I got a match saying they match as my aunt on my dad's side. But the weird thing is, the account name is my biological dad's name, the account has no family trees or anything, and hasn't logged on in over a year and the account was only made a year ago. Just a blank account stating it's my aunt with DNA results attached with my dad's name basically. Messaged my dad, he said he has never taken a DNA test. I know he has two sisters, and I put them in my family tree, but its not linking to either of them. One of them also had passed away in 2017, so it can't be them. I told my dad about the result, and he didn't really react to it other than "Lol". Tried to give him a nudge to also test and he didn't seem interested. I don't recall him having any brothers either, and double checked with my brother (same dad and mom) who said as far as he knows, he doesn't have any brothers. I tried to message the account but never got anything back.

Anyone else have a weird unexplainable result like this? I'm sure they got my DNA accurate because it also matched me with my uncle and my granduncle on my mom's side and I know them.

Edit update/clairfy: So I do have a half sister that I know of on my dad's side, and I messaged her and she said she has never done a test and also doesn't have a clue who it could be. I am unfortunately not very close to my dad (we didn't talk until like 2 or 3 years ago because my mom is spiteful and holds grudges; growing up family drama stuff) and he doesn't reach out to me too much anyways. I unfortunately do not know too much of his family members other than my aunts and grandparents. This mystery aunt (or half sister as some say usually comes up similar) and I share 1,902 cM and 40 segments. Currently trying to dig other matches family trees and using ProTools to see if I can find anything, but unfortunately not finding much. Debating on reaching out to some cousins and see if they're willing to give insight.

Can you be forced to cross train into another department?

So I work in the pharmacy and apparently our deli has been struggling lately. My pharmacy manager sent out a message stating someone needs to volunteer to go cross train into the deli or else they are just gonna have to pick someone. Can they really make you cross train if you don't want to?

Edit: clarification.
