Sparkling mineral water extends my beer drinking

I like the taste and the buzz beer give, but I tend to guzzle it too fast. In an effort to slow down, I discovered that I can add some sparkling mineral water and still enjoy the beer. Not soda water, that changes the taste. I will have one or two beers, then begin adding sparkling mineral water and it extends my drinking time. Anyone else do this?

EDIT: YES, I add it to my beer. It's like a shandy or radler, but not adding a new taste. Note that I have 1 or 2 straight beers first, then begin adding the fizzy minerals water, maybe 10% then next one 12% etc up to about 20%. I agree that diluting beer is not the optimum way to enjoy it, but it helps me pace myself.

Her horse has opinions and she loves an immortal — Free historical fantasy novel on itch.io

Immortal by mischance, centuries of wandering have made Nico philosophical about almost everything. He has outlived empires, mastered crafts, moved on before anyone notices he isn't ageing. Then he meets Elly, and philosophy stops working.

It's the opposite of grimdark, with warmth and adventure and the occasional storm. Historical fantasy set in Roman Britain and ancient Greece around AD 325.

I wrote a story that began in my dreams, decades ago. An immortal man named Nico lived entire lifetimes in those dreams, his world more vivid than my own. They were so alive, so emotionally raw, that when I woke, for a moment I was still there.

That story, now three published books, began with this premise —

Immortal by pure mischance, Nico has wandered the centuries carefree. Then he meets Elly in Roman Britannia, and everything changes.

Book one is free. Four scenes here if you want a taste. https://vanishingage.com.au/excerpts/

I wrote a 360,000 word fantasy story without reading any guides. Much of it I had dreamed over 20+ years, so the story already had firm roots.

Because the story was unplanned, it covers several genres and it’s hard to define which shelf of the bookstore it should sit on. It’s probably also hard to find readers. It is a love story, a philosophical novel, a historical adventure, a supernatural fantasy, and an intimate character study. It covers an immortal man, mortal woman, Roman Britannia, ancient Greece, found family.

It’s currently 3 books, and I have more ideas that might extend to 4 or 5 books, but it will probably be the only story I ever write.

Has anyone successfully found their readership when their story genuinely spans multiple genres?
