Wildfire air support descends upon the town of Lyle, WA to suppress the Lyle Hill fire on 6/28/2026. While winds gusting to over 50 mph rapidly pushed the fire eastward and uphill, the lower flank was still steadily descending towards the residences at the edge of town. Helicopters, air tankers, fire bosses and super scoopers lead the air assault and saved the town from wildfire once again for the second year in a row. These heroes really put on one hell of an airshow.

The sun sets and soon sets the sky ablaze with a purple, magenta and orange sunset as Mount Hood and Mount Adams stand tall in the distance.

We had our first smoke-out the other day here in the Columbia River Gorge when an east wind pushed smoke into the area from a couple of distant fires. Here is the unsettling beauty of it. Shot with a DJI Mini 4 Pro.
