NKD - Petrified Fish Guppy

Pictures 1 & 2: The Guppy.
Picture 3: It meets its siblings: The Trilobite and the Bunta.

My PF Guppy arrived today. This is my third PF, and they never cease to amaze me. From the smooth, snappy action to the razor-sharp blade and the excellent fit and finish, this is a real budget banger! I don't know how they turn out such quality for the price.

NKD - Civivi Baby Banter 2

This one arrived yesterday. Civivi Baby Banter 2. Nitro V blade, Blue Aluminum scales.

I like everything about this knife. Exceptional fit and finish. Quality materials. It is quick opening with a solid lockup. Pull back on the axis lock and it falls shut. It is the perfect size for my medium-sized hands. With the choil, I can get a full four-finger grip, and it feels very comfortable in my hand. I love the texturing on the aluminum scales. To top it all off, it is the perfect size and weight (for me) for a lightweight EDC.

NKD - Remette Meteor

This beauty just arrived yesterday, and it's a keeper. It's my first non-budget blade. I've only been in the hobby for about 2 months. Before that, my only knives were a Kershaw 3650 Volt II, which was my EDC; a Buck 110, which I purchased in 1970 at the Navy Exchange at NAS Atsugi, Japan; and a Camillus Mariner with a sheepsfoot blade and marlinspike; it was US Navy issue around 1971.

Since the bug bit a couple of months ago, I've fallen deeply into the rabbit hole. I now own 15 knives, mostly budget blades by Civivi, Petrified Fish, Miguron, Remette, and CJRB. I finally decided to up my game a bit and acquire my first non-budget blade. I'm very pleased with the choice I made. Remette may not have been the first choice for many of you seasoned collectors, but I already had the Remette Camel, and for a knife that only costs $33, it punches way above its weight. When I saw the Meteor, I knew I had to pull the trigger, and I'm glad I did.

Olitans shipping problems?

On July 6th, I ordered an Olitans Submarine directly from the Olitans website, and I received an email with the order number and confirmation right away. On July 7th, I was notified that the knife had shipped via China Post and received a tracking number. Today is July 15th, and the tracking number still hasn't updated. I have sent 4 emails to Olitans so far and have only received 1 reply stating that the tracking may take 2 or 3 days to update. It has now been 8 days with no updates, not even an acknowledgement that the shipper has the package. My other emails have been ignored. Have any of you purchased from Olitans and had a similar experience? It is very frustrating, and yes, I know that shipments from China to the USA can take 3 - 4 weeks; that is not the issue. I would just like to know for certain that China Post has, in fact, taken possession of the knife and that it is moving through the system.

I've been enjoying the fountain pen hobby for a little over 2 years now, ever since I inherited a 1943 Parker 51 Vacumatic from my dad, who was the original owner, and had it restored. I haven't slowed down since then. I was finally able to attend a pen show for the first time last weekend: the Chicago Pen Show. I was completely overwhelmed; it was like taking a drink through a firehose! Every type of pen, ink, paper, pen cases, nibs, etc imaginable was on display! I didn't make a huge haul, but I did come home with an addition to my pocket fountain pen collection. I bought a STEX 100C Copper Pocket Pen with a Schmidt #5 <M> nib. This pen is a joy to write with. Of course, I had to ink it with Diamine Ancient Copper! It's a perfect pairing!
