How would you feel if the Rockies traded Goodman for the Rutschman package?

Full disclosure, I'm happy to keep and build around Goodman

There's some assumptions here, but I have to imagine that the Red Sox were engaged with the Rockies about Goodman as they were with the Orioles. They paid a premium, although not earth-shattering price to acquire a starting catcher, and most of those parts are what "insiders" were speculating a potential Goodman trade would look like.

If we made that move on Monday, how would you feel about it for the organization?

Gabriel Hughes has looked good

I've probably jinxed his start today, but he's made four appearances this season and he's looked good in all of them.

First career appearance he gets a save. Second appearance is his first career start against the Dodgers, 3 runs allowed in 6 innings. Second start, 2 runs in 5 innings, third start 1 run in 5 innings.

We might have something here.

I had a realization: we've achieved something as an organization that we haven't experienced in a while—we're boring!

I don't say that as a negative, and in fact it's been something of a challenge for me as a fan to grasp, as I've been on a wild roller-coaster wild, probably a decade plus all told. But we're boring. We've got professionals in the building, quietly doing their job, quietly doing their due diligence, working behind the scenes, closed doors, no leaks, just slowly and meticulously building something here.

Coming out of the excitement of the Gillis era, it felt like the Benning era was just galaxy brain moves, trying to speed run building a contender, so we were constantly making moves to cheat the process, 2nd thrown away for coin flip tweeners, chasing that high of the 2011 run, trying to not be crushed by the cap, paying a nickel today that will cost us a dime tomorrow, moves based entirely on borrowed time. That all crescendoed when Benning painted his masterpiece with OEL trade. Then you transition to the JR/Allvin era, and it had it's moments, and I do respect JR and his accomplishments but every day it felt like some new inflammatory quote or dropping a bomb on this fanbase that would just scatter the comment section, divide the fan base. JR was candid, but I don't think it served the organization well. I don't think it served our relationships with players, coaches or other teams around the league. It felt like someone gave grandpa a microphone after a couple drinks at Thanksgiving. And JR/Allvin didn't have any patience, and I'm not saying all their moves were bad but we'd make blockbuster trade after trade, and ship those new assets off immediately, no time for the dust to settle or to process our team reality. We had to have been among the highest volume of trades around the league in their tenure.

And now here we are. I like RJ. I love the Sedins. I like how thoughtful and measured they are when they speak, I trust them when they talk about their vision, but there was still a part of me at the draft that was expecting chaos, especially with how frenzied the moves were. I wanted in on that action, moves for the sake of making moves. An addict of Canucks hockey, F5 on the subreddit, checking twitter feeds, how are we not just trading some picks for some projects, why do we still have veterans on this team when we're rebuilding? What the fuck is happening?

And then it clicked. We're actually doing something carefully, considerately, a whole organization in lockstep, an extended vision, long term thinking. And I felt at peace. I've come to learn to trust the process. I've said the words before about Benning and Allvin, that surely they're firmly behind the wheel, and even though we're hitting landlines and swerving off the road, I could trust the process, all the while knowing deep down in my heart that we're totally fucked and these moves are total bullshit.

I believe in RJ and the Sedins though.Fool me three times, shame on me?

What do you think our trade deadline looks like?

We're a little over two weeks until the deadline, and while I'm fairly certain we're going to make the post-season, experience Rocktober and win the World Series, Mr. Moneyball and our front office might not see things that way.

How do you see things shaking out? Who are we dangling on the trade market to acquire some young players to add to our system?

Tatum's Role in the Play

Was her playing a dog, and getting chewed out by her drama teacher for being shitty at playing a dog the best way they could show that Tatum needed to find courage and strength? I thought it was supposed to be funny when I first saw it, but on a second watch I think it was dead ass supposed to tell the audience she's timid and lacks energy. Her one line in the play was "woof", and she couldn't even do that with any gravitas according to the drama teacher.

Was it all supposed to be funny? Was it supposed to be a callback to Sid in college? Was it supposed to tell us something about Tatum as a character? It's a baffling choice. Contrast that to Scream 2 where Sid is playing in a Greek tragedy, a complex character where her teacher reinforces that Sid is a fighter and lives with a curse that she must embrace to find meaning in life. And then there's Tatum dressed in a doggy costume who can't even say woof right. Like this movie is making fun of me right?

What are your thoughts on a Jake DeBrusk trade?

It seems inevitable that he gets moved, and by all accounts has some decent value on the trade market. Seems like teams are waiting on Larkin and Robertson to have their situations resolved before they go bargain hunting, and Jake probably has one of the cleaner contracts to pick up. Manageable cap hit, term on the contract, open to waiving his clause, can slot in almost anywhere in the lineup, instant PP boost, one of the largest Pokémon card collections in the league.

What do you think his value is at this point? Before this wild offseason I would have thought a Garland like underwhelming but necessary return would have been on the table, but I'm thinking we can dream a little bigger now. Which teams make the most sense in terms of fit and their current cap situation?

Spyglass and Neve Campbell

Does anyone else see the irony and link between how Spyglass handled Scream 6 and Scream 7?

Hollywood chatter is that Neve Campbell was offered between $1 and $3 million to return for Scream 6, which she turned down, feeling insulted by the low offer and Radio Silence are forced to tell a story that didn't include Sidney for the first time in the franchise.

Spyglass causes a toxic shitstorm behind the scenes, fired Melissa, Radio Silence and Jenna Ortega both walk away from the franchise as a result. Christopher Landon is brought in to sort out of the mess, can't see eye to eye with the creative direction and walks away.

Spyglass hires Kevin Williamson to pick of the pieces, and they offer Neve Campbell $7 million, more than double, potentially even triple of what she turned down a few years prior, and she's brought in to lead the cast for a dramatic pivot from what the two previous films set in motion.

Spyglass approves a script where the new killers entire motivation is hurting Sidney because she failed to make an appearance in Scream 6's events. Does this feel like an on the nose message to Neve Campbell that she's now back being the lead star of her franchise, and her character is being attacked for failing to appear in the movie she turned down for being low balled by the studio? That's Jessica's entire motivation. Sidney is weak for skipping New York, so Tatum should be the new final girl.

I know we're in tinfoil hat conspiracy territory here, but that is weird right?

"You can not overlook how this team just keeps grinding away. A reflection of their manager and coaching staff"

Cubs commentary team speaking on the Rockies last night, after coming out flat in the first two innings, looking beat barely twenty minutes into the game.

For me that quote kind of sums of the difference between this year and last year. Sure we added some talent, nothing that moves the needle that much but we're in most games. We're going up against some real killers and the Rockies just won't go away, and finding ways to grind out runs and grind out wins.

Last night was aggressive baserunning to score a run, a HR by a rookie, a disciplined at bat that lead to a wild pitch and then a ground out to score a runner from third. Pitching took care of the rest. We're making our own breaks, finding ugly ways to get on the board and it's paying off. The mentality is night and day from a year ago.

Hypothetical Trades

I've seen a lot of posts recently throwing around trade proposals and dumping on some particularly bad ones. Good or bad, I like reading them, so throw out your best hypothetical trades you think are coming our way this offseason and heading into the draft.

If report cards came out today...

Who is going to be going out for ice cream to celebrate and who needs to see the teacher after class?

The vibes were pretty high coming out of the first month of the season. Beating the Jays, Dodgers and Padres felt pretty good. I think our record has cooled considerably even though the performance and compete level is a lot better than last year. What happened against the Dodgers last night used to be more of the norm, and now it feels like the exception. We're still seeing games that we've lost in the first inning, but overall it hasn't been as miserable a fan experience.

Who do you think deserves some positive grades for their performance so far? Who has disappointed? Who needs to be in discussion for trades as the deadline approaches?

The film opens the same - Stab fans come to marvel at the Macher House, and meet the same grizzly fate. The opening was actually great, set a great tone. Someone is revisiting the past, and they intend to burn it all down.

Cut to Pine Grove, Sidney has changed her name and lives a similar life as we see in the film - small town coffee shop owner, is more vigilant than we see in the film, guarded but trying to live a normal life for her family. Jessica is a retired therapist who Sid confides elements of truth of her life, but doesn't reveal her full history, cloaking her trauma in former domestic abuse, which Jessica relates to and is able to help Sidney work through.

Her only connection to her old life is Gale, who tells her that an incident happened in Woodsboro last night. Sid tells her she doesn't care, that's her old life and Gale needs to stay away. In that moment they both receive a facetime call from Stu Macher, and it plays out the same as the movie - he says he's outside Tatum's school and shows the outside of the school to prove it. Gale says she had no choice but to come, but is talked out of it. Sid and Mark arrive at the school but nothing is out of the ordinary. Mark convinces Sid it's just a prank using AI, no one in the town knows Sid's connection to Stu outside himself and Tatum who both keep the secret.

Tatum and her friends are throwing a party before the release of their drama production, Sid is apprehensive but secure in knowing her old life is buried. Ghostface attacks the party, where we actually care about her friend group because we've fleshed them out as characters. Lucas is attacked and hospitalized, Chloe is killed, and Sid receives a phone call from GhostFace saying it's Stu, and Tatum is next. She beckons Gale, saying it's happening again.

Mark, and the police secure their home, and it plays out in a similar fashion. GF drops down from the attic, Sid and Mark protect Tatum, GF chases them outside where Gale arrives, hitting and killing GF, mask pull and it's Karl. Everyone is confused how he's connected to Sid.

Sid, Mark, Gale and Tatum are picking up the pieces in the aftermath of the attack, and Pine Grove is mourning the loss of Chloe. During a student meeting about cancelling the drama production, another GF attacks, kills Hannah, the drama teacher and others, Lucas and Ben defend Tatum and Mark arrives to shoot and kill GF. Mask pull, it's another seemingly random killer with no obvious connection to Sid. Stu calls, and says it's just the beginning, and he's going to burn it all down.

Sidney's cafe is set ablaze, Stu says she can't hide, she can't live a normal life and no matter where she goes or who she is with, death will always follow her. Stu sends a direct threat to everyone in Pine Grove to Robbie Rivers, who happily shares the sensationalized story.

Gale has pieced together a connection between Karl and the 2nd GF, they both attended a mental asylum nearby and the both were under the guidance of a therapist, Dr. Jessica Bowden

Sid seek guidance from her trusted friend and confides with Jessica her past history. As the audience is expecting Jessica to reveal she is the mastermind behind the GF attacks, GF attacks and kills Jessica. Sid escapes, as Gale arrives to inform her it was Jessica who radicalized the previous killers, only to find out she was wrong, as Jessica is dead.

Sid, Gale, Mark and Tatum prepare to leave and go into hiding when Stu calls - Tatum sneaks out to say goodbye to Ben, Mark goes to find her and the trio of Ben, Tatum and Mark are attacked. Ben is killed, Mark is wounded and incapacitated and GF draws Sidney and Gale to come to Tatum's aid at Sidney's house.

Stu calls and reveals it's all coming to an end now - Mark is killed, and Gale bargains that if the goal is to burn it all down, she can take the place of Tatum. Her and Sidney will trade their lives for Tatum to be set free. Stu taunts them to a similar set up of Tatum being tied to a chair in the backyard, where Gale is attacked and incapacitated, and GF begins the final monologue reveal to Sidney. He pulls the mask off to reveal himself as Lucas. He had found his mothers files on Sidney, and her former patients. Jessica had pieced together who Sidney Evans really was, but as a true friend kept her secret hidden. Lucas is a true crime expert and wants to put his mark on history, and knows finally killing the celebrity victim of a decades long series of attacks will have his name live in infamy. He used Stu as an AI ruse as a tribute to his legacy, and with the files he found of his mother's time at the asylum, radicalized dangerous individuals with an affinity for murder, using AI of his mother Jessica to convince them to attack Pine Grove. Lucas had always shown violent tendencies but his mother hide them, and tried to guide him to live a normal life, which she believed she had. His commitment to the attacks was killing Jessica, and now plans to burn down the Sidney Prescot saga by killing Sid and Gale, and then himself for Tatum to start a new era of celebrity victim.

Sid accepts and is resigned to the fact she needs to die to end the carnage that will always follow her, but buys Tatum enough time to free herself and attack Lucas. Sid, Tatum and Gale kill Lucas.

In the aftermath, Sidney vows to confront her life, her history and the legacy it leaves, and Tatum knows that's now her shared history. As they mourn the loss of Mark, and Tatum's friends, Gale sees an unopened letter on their front porch- an acceptance letter for Tatum to college.

Lock him up or sell high at the deadline? Assuming he keeps dialed in at the plate, it might be a good opportunity to get something of a top prospect, however he is only 27, should have some good years still left in him.

What do you think our front office should do with Mickey?
