[Feature request]Here's an idea.. What if there was a subtitle format text file that was read by VLC and actually overlayed video scenes on top of the movie at certain times. Thereby replacing scenes automatically .... ala scenes in Odyssey or R rated movies for kids, etc.
This is all for science and fair use.
I imagine the directory would be like this:
.../
Odyssey (2025).mp4
Odyssey (2025).vrt
Odyssey (2025).eng.srt
Odyssey (2025)scene1.mp4
Odyssey (2025)scene2.mp4
You play Odyssey (2025).mp4 in VLC. It searches and finds any subtitles and of course starts playing them. At the same time it searches and finds the VRT, which would just be another text file that follows subtitle formats like this.
1
00:00:12,626 --> 00:00:14,671
scene1.mp4
2
00:00:30,035 --> 00:00:32,037
scene2.mp4
It would be placed under the subtitles layer and above the video layer.
[subtitles]
[videos]
[original video file]
It would be seamless. It couldn't change the size, color, perspective or anything and if the file isnt found, it would fail silently. It could be the subtitle file format with a .vrt for video, or it could be .vid.srt as a file extension and ending to indicate its videos and could be loaded at the same time.
