Don't look up the 9th Vice President of The United States. Worst mistake of my life.

Why do some people think Lincoln would have pardoned John Brown?

I just don't see it happening. Besides the fact John Brown was charged under Virginia law and I don't believe Lincoln could have. He didn't approve of Brown's violence.

What would these five have thought of The Civil War?

Something that's been on my mind for a while is what these five people (John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, Henry Clay, John C Calhoun, and Daniel Webster.) would have thought of the Civil War. Most of them tried desperately to prevent a split of the union. They were the biggest politicians of their time. I wonder what they would have thought of all of that effort only delaying the inevitable only 10 or 15 years after they died. Obviously Calhoun would have defected to the Confederacy but what would the rest of them have done? What would they have thought of Lincoln and his leadership? We will never know but to me it's one of the biggest what ifs.

What do you think of the Timex Weekender New England Chronograph?

I really like the look of this watch but I'm not sure if I can swing $150 for a Timex.

Lincoln visited the front after McClellan refused to pursue Lee's army after Antietam. This picture was taken on October 3rd 1862. Lincoln would dismiss McClellan a month later on November 9th 1862. This decision would eventually lead to McClellan running against Lincoln in 1864. Which of course leads to a lot of history changing. Lincoln removing Hannibal Hamlin as his VP and going with Andrew Johnson being the biggest one.
