Teeny tiny 2x2” study
Sunlight coming up behind the trees and a zip line tower, painted en plein air. I’m new to gouache, normally I paint in oils, so any tips are welcome.

Always interesting to find a composition without a sky element, so I leaned into the darkness of the woods. Also, how many flowers is too many?? Could maybe have added more but didn’t want to overwork it.
Painted today at the James K Polk homestead and caught some lovely morning shadows. 8x10” oil on panel done mostly with palette knife. I’ve been working on my tree shapes recently and very purposefully not painting every leaf on every tree.
