Book and Course Recommendations

Looking for specialized books on bushcraft. Topics I'm primarily interested in are, weather forecasting, shelter building, flint knapping, foraging, outdoor cooking, navigation, tracking, and bow making. I welcome other books that are similar as well. Bonus points if you can point me in the direction of courses that specialize in these areas. Try to avoid recommending the usual suspects like, 98.6 Degrees, When All Hell Breaks Loose, Bushcraft: Mors Kochanski, Woodcraft and Camping: George W. Sears, SAS survival, and all other generalized books similar. Please don't recommend anything to do with Dave Canterbury it will be discounted.

Looking for something quick and easy to read. I'm not looking for anything too lore heavy, but a little is ok. I just don't want lore dumps every other chapter if that makes sense. Something fast paced with OP MC, but not like right away but not something that drags it's feet like Cradle, or Beware of Chicken. Something similar to the books above, yes I know Cradle is slow but it's well written.

Bikepacking Singlespeed?

I am playing with the idea of starting my multi-year bikepacking tour with a White Ind. freewheel. It will be mounted on a custom made wheelset, Kom Tough rims, DT Swiss 240 hubs, DT Spokes. Frame will be a Surly Krampus. Is this a monumentally stupid idea or should I actually go for it? Let me know your thoughts! Also not my bike, my frame is in the mail.

Path to Ascension

So I'm on chapter 10 of Path to Ascension in book 1, I am really losing interests in it. It is hailed as an S tier for many, but for me I am so dang bored. There's nothing interesting going on and it feels like a slogging through it. It fails to hold my attention. I think this is more of a Slice of Life than a high stakes, and high octane, litrpg. I assumed that it would be full of conflict, betrayals, and revenge but it's nothing like that at all. Did I get the wrong idea of it and I'm just disappointing or is this really just a boring book? I am keen to drop it, but feel bad because it's only chapter 10. But man it feels like a slog, the progress is painfully slow. please let me know your thoughts on the matter.

Experience with Alton?

I don't do tons of 'backpacking' per say, but I do frequent day trips while out bikepacking. I travel full time and spend 8-10 months camping in the back country. Some of the core concepts are the same so I thought I'd see if people know about it here. I do a lot of from scratch cooking (I'm a chef) while out on trail and on the road.

I do a lot of catch and cook (fish) over the fire and on a twig stove. The plate is also advertised as skillet anyone use this before? The grill seems to be quite expensive, I am all for paying top dollar for quality gear but this seems a bit much. I have seen similar products go for much less. Alton is based in Australia so maybe there's a tariffs included in the price?

Experience with Alton?

I have a upcoming trip to northern AZ but I travel full time, and I am looking to upgrade my cook kit.

Northern Arizona Recommendations: Tenkara/ Fly fishing

I will be Bikepacking northern AZ (Sedona, Page, Williams, Flagstaff, Kingman, Prescott) in the next month. I will be riding around all over northern AZ for about 2ish months. My main objective is to find great fishing locations. I originally posted this on r/Tenkara and didn't get anything really helpful. I know about Trout Routes, and FishBrain but wanted to open source this to a wider community to find the best places. Apps are cool and all but I don't rely on them especially in the back country. If you have any legendary spots please let me know. I am mostly looking for good fly fishing spots with minimal wading think small creeks and rivers. The picture is my core fishing kit minus my line and flies.

Recommendations

Need recommendations that aren't slop. I have tried probably 50 or so fictions and drop them within the first 20 chapters the most was 70. They are either poorly written, incomplete, or generic slop that rips off popular titles. Is their actually anything worth reading here? I know that I may be asking for the impossible considering this is a "free" site but is it really this bad or I haven't looked hard enough?

Edit: I am open to anything, I will literally read any genre it doesn't matter.

Genres I tend to avoid: Contemporary, Horror, Sci-fi, Artificial Intelligence, Deck Building, Gender Bender, Hard Sci-Fi, Gay Romance, Magical Girl, Otome, Space Opera, Sports, steampunk, Urban Fantasy, VR, and any AI generated or assisted slop . (May seem like a lot but most of it is redundant or just things that aren't my favorite)

Stories that I have enjoyed in the past: Hell Difficulty Tutorial, Primal Hunter, Battle Mage Farmer, A soldier's Life, Rise of the Devourer, Mark of the Fool, The Villainess Is an SS+ Rank Adventurer, The Wandering Inn, So I'm a spider So What?, Silent Mage, Cradle, Dungeon Crawler Carl.

This isn't a complete list just the more main stream stuff that most will know. I have read hundreds of books so this isn't exhaustive.

New to Tenkara

I am from Arizona and relatively new to fishing as a whole. I have been fishing only a few dozen times over the last 5 years and want to get into it more. I have yet to find a good place to fish and would appreciate any suggestions. I will be bikepacking up north in the next few months and would love to land some fish while I'm out. If you have suggestions not in that area still let me know.
