Beautiful linen dial with a vintage vibes

That linen dial offers nice vintage charm and a high end feel, playing with light way better than standard flat prints. It is a honest retro tribute, unlike the unoriginal designs. While it lacks the hardened surface some new microbrands offer, the specs still crush any basic entry level dress watch. The specs for the price of Chinese watches today can’t be beat IMO if one does not mind the brands.

The hardened polished case is one of the best trick on the S4090

Standard 316L sits around 150-200 Vickers. The S4090 is treated to around 500 HV. On a fully polished surface where every mark shows up, that difference is real.

Baltany S6083, great Grand Seiko GMT alternative

This is the baltany I bought last year. The mix of brushed and high polish bevels easily matches my San Martin, and it honestly looks like it should cost way more. That ceramic bezel is beautiful with crisp engraving, and the 24 click action is incredibly satisfying for tracking dual time zones. Even though I bought this watch out of pure appreciation rather than for actual work, it is a joy to use.

My only minor gripe is that the bracelet edges feel a bit sharp, so it does not quite have that rounded luxury feel of real Zaratsu polishing. But the overall finishing is unmatched and I'm satisfied with it.
