Final round tech specialist interview - any tips

So far I’ve looked at the job description and competencies, have a few customer stories/scenarios to tell in the star method, and had connections with a lot of the genius bar managers already

I usually interview well but we were told there’s only one position open with 4 of us doing final round interviews

Any tips for success or ideas on questions that could be asked would be helpful

Oh also for background I’m still relatively new to apple and have been working as a specialist in PZ for 10ish months

Hardest part about APHY 201

Getting a head start on studying for 201. What would you say are the hardest chapters or concepts that are covered?

Don’t have access to the course or syllabus yet but after looking at the course objectives in schedule builder it seems very similar to APHY 101/102

Need advice - should I also apply for Ivy tech’s ASN?

Need some advice. I’m planning on applying for IU’s ABSN program but I’m considering also applying for Ivy Tech’s ASN program as a back up

I still need to finish APHY 201 to fulfill IU’s A&P prereq but when that’s done I’ll be applying with a 3.8 GPA - with the only Bs being English, Psych, and a B+ in Biology. My only concern is the competitiveness of the program so I’m considering applying for Ivy Tech’s ASN as a plan B

I guess it will be kinda harder to get into Ivy Tech’s program because it’s based on a points system. I got As in APHY 101/102 but since I got Bs in English and Psych my prerequisite score before the teas is 80 points. Since I don’t have a CNA cert I don’t get the extra 5 points on my score so I’d have to get at least an 85 just to have a competitive application

So what would you guys do if you were in my shoes. Study and take the teas or stick with only applying to IU Indy?

Trying to build nursing skills with no healthcare experience

I’m currently working as a sales specialist at the apple store and really enjoy it but a role just opened up at my store to move to the Genius Bar. I don't have direct healthcare experience yet (haven't started my nursing program yet) so I’m trying to get creative on ways to build transferable soft skills early on that will help me stand out during program and clinical interviews

The Genius Bar seems like there are a lot of transferable skills to nursing:
1. Multi-customer help
2. De-escalation & Empathy
3. Root-Cause Critical Thinking
4. Objective Documentation: writing clear, concise repair and troubleshooting notes

I could also be overthinking this but idk what do you guys think? Stay in the product zone where it’s super chill and stress free or make the switch to the bar?

How is APHY 201 compared to 101/102?

What’s covered in APHY 201? Is it the same overall body systems 101/102 just more in depth and focused on the physiology?

Thinking of getting a head start on studying to any guidance would be helpful

Has anyone taken their microbiology final yet???

What’s the vibe of the exam because I’m kinda freaking out. Also a cumulative exam?!?!! That’s just evil

How much emphasis should I put on the diseases and causative agents?

I feel comfortable and well prepared for everything else and like 80% of the diseases/infections but there’s just so much to try and retain

Should I get a CNA certification?

*For clarification mainly asking if it’s worth it to get a CNA cert and start working in a healthcare setting or just continue to keep working at my current job. Is it helpful in any way during interviews/do hospitals value the experience*

I’m starting an ABSN program soon and need some advice on if I should get a CNA certification or skip it and continue working at my retail job throughout school

Reasons for staying at current job:

  1. I work at an Apple Store and pay is a lot higher than what I’ve been seeing for CNA jobs
  2. Leadership has been extremely flexible and accommodating with my class schedule
  3. Insane tuition reimbursement of $5200/yr. I’ve already confirmed that it would cover classes

Reasons for getting CNA cert

  1. I’ve read that it could be helpful with ~some~ job experience in a healthcare setting BUT not really how much hospitals really value that experience

I’m leaning towards staying at my current job but the biggest reason I’m thinking about the CNA cert is getting some hands on experience - to an extent - and getting my foot in the door

IU ABSN that competitive?

I’ve been seeing a huge range of answers but how competitive is IUs ABSN program. I’ve been seeing some people say they got in with as low as a 3.4 and others saying they got rejected with a 3.8

What’s truly the case

Microbiology exam tips

Any study tips for microbiology before my exam?

At this point I’m mostly doing review and not learning any new concepts but because it’s so much content I don’t really know where to spend most of my time. My professor gives us a study guide for each chapter and I’ve been working through those and reviewing old quizzes

Oh also, I’m taking it at the anderson campus with mark Robbin’s if anyone has taken his class before

3.72 competitive for IU ABSN?

I’m doing my last prereqs and I’m starting to freak out because I’m worried I won’t get admitted. Microbiology is kicking my ass and I’m feeling like I’m gonna end the class with a B

My cumulative GPA when I graduated years ago was a 3.45 but looking at just the prereq gpa if I end with a B in Micro I’d be at a 3.72 gpa

Should I retake one of the easier classes, psych for example to bring my grade in that class from a B to an A or should I ride it out and see what happens?

I’m leaning towards retaking a class or two because I’ve heard IUs ABSN is competitive and idk if a 3.72 will cut it

Do I have a competitive GPA? IU ABSN

Im taking my last prereq for the ABSN and microbiology is kicking my ass

Shooting for an A but realistically I feel like I’m gonna get a B in the class which would bring my prerequisite gpa 3.71 from a 3.80 :/

I’ve been telling myself I should be good but the panic is anxiety from the uncertainty is starting to kick in

UKG shift pool is terrible for picking up shifts

I’ve been trying to pick up shifts but UKG is a fucking mess. It shows that shifts are available on the days I’m looking to pick up but when I click on it it says I’m already scheduled or only shows me shifts on days where I can’t pick up

Has anyone had any issues with this or would it be best to talk to a lead in store in case my app is just glitching

Has anyone take microbiology with Mark Robbins?

I’m enrolled in his blended 8 week class this summer and after looking through the study guides and watching the lecture of the first chapter I’m already starting to feel like this class might be more challenging than I thought

His lectures seem like they’re filled with a lot of fluff and I’m kinda overwhelmed with all the information and what to spend time on

For those who have taken his micro class any tips for success or for those who haven’t but took micro your input would also be helpful

Blended Class with only 4 Lab days?

Hey I’m confused about my schedule. Im enrolled in a microbiology class this summer and I’m just now noticing the course days and locations

It’s showing SuS 8am - 2pm 6/20 - 6/28. Does that mean I only have 4 lab days for this class?

How does waitlist for class work?

Registered late and got put on a waitlist. What are the chances I get in or would i have to get permission in some way to get into the class?

For reference it’s for a in person Microbio class this summer. In schedule builder it shows there are 2 waitlists and 3 waitlist seats - so I guess I’m the 3rd waitlisted student?

Not really sure what the process is from here moving forward. Any input?

How long is the ASN program

Hey guys I’m finishing up my last couple prereqs and was weighing my options between Ivy Tech ASN and IU’s ABSN program

Purely from a time to completion perspective what is the time to completion for the ASN program? I’ve seen online that it can be completed in about 4 semesters but does that include summer classes or are we talking 2 years of fall and spring classes only

Any feedback is helpful. Thanks!
