Cat hates the carrier

Umi (~2 years old) has always hated car rides/going outside. This usually isn't a huge problem since I don't have to worry about her running out if someone opens the door, but it's difficult to get her into the carrier to go to the vet or when I had to move.

Each time I've taken her into the car before, she would cry and pee and poop in the carrier, so when I took her to the vet I would always have to warn the staff about the mess and bathe her afterwards. I don't mind cleaning her up but I can tell she's stressed since otherwise, she's completely healthy and great with using the litterbox.

I've tried switching to a bigger carrier with wheels so she doesn't jostle when I carry her (I'm a bit short), spraying the new carrier with Feliway, and leaving treats/catnip inside the carrier any chance I get. She takes the treats and catnip in her teeth and chomps on them in another area.

I wanted to try taking her for short walks around the house so she doesn't immediately associate the carrier with the vet. I was able to get her into the carrier two days ago and wheeled her around fot a few minutes and took her back inside when her meows started sounding stressed. I tried again today to gently put her into the carrier for another walk but she jumped out immediately and now she's avoiding me when I try to approach her :(

Does anybody have any tips for getting their cat to tolerate going outside? She has a checkup scheduled in a few days and I just want to make it easier on her.
