Angels have their wings back

A while ago I found a dozen wooden angels, each standing on one foot, painted, primitive ones that I suspect are from Guatemala. They had no wings, and no trumpets (hands were carved like they should be holding up trumpets).

I bought every single one of them. Found similar ones online and then I carved and painted wooden wings and trumpets for all of them.

I love them, and it makes me happy to feel like I have angels who are happy again to have their wings back in my home watching over all of us.

How to clean?

Found this for a song while thrifting. What’s needed to clean it? Do I need to strip it all the way down or just add some additional seasoning?

Flow Blue Happiness

I did a quick pop in on my lunch hour at my local Goodwill. I observed a lady searching on her phone for the back stamp on a small platter that she was resting on her cart. She must’ve decided it wasn’t something she wanted, and she put it down. Imagine my surprise when I picked it up!!! 😍

Anxiety over taking my BP has to stop— begging for advice

I was diagnosed with a blockage in my renal artery that was elevating my blood pressure. The Dr was supposed to be one of the best, put in a stent, and then forgot to give an Rx to prevent blood clots. What followed was an emergency surgery and then additional surgeries…. I cant even tell you how much anxiety it has left me with. I have been tested about a year ago, and the stents are open, and I exercise and I don’t smoke. I should feel confident that my blood pressure is ok (e.g., not medical emergency) but I can’t take my pressure and I avoid going to the dr or any medical thing where they might have to take it as much as I can. It makes me feel crazy just writing this, and I feel like a freak. The last time it was taken, it was around 140/80 ish. It has been as high as 170/90 in the Dr office, but that was before I got serious about working. Haven’t touched a cuff in months. I feel like bad numbers are going to result in me having to go for another surgery and I just can’t face it. I’m on BP medicine. How can I get over this? I want to be able to responsibly care for my health but the fear of this is just paralyzing. Has anyone overcome anxiety in this area?

Seeking old marriage documents, news coverage

I’m trying to find additional information about a couple who got married on top of the former landmark that was the Hoosier Slide in Indiana. I know that they were Mr. and Mrs. Plasterer and I believe he was a farmer from southern Indiana. There’s some info findable on the Indiana Historical Society on this but little detail. I tried to search old state records but I am struggling. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Im curious about how others feel about nutmeg in non-baking recipes. Although I enjoy it in sweet-skewing recipes (think oatmeal crisp, pumpkin pie), when it is in a vegetable and/or meat- based dish, I find the taste to be jarring. And weirdly, even “a pinch” or just an 1/8 tsp. and I can taste it…. and it just feels like a clash to me.

Does anyone else have this? Any chefs out there who can explain what the nutmeg flavor is supposed to do in a savory dish? I have a huge spice rack and I use it liberally with many good results in recipes…. but man!!! Nutmeg is just so weird tasting in savory dishes!
