This is ofcourse if Villa were to sell, but I’ve seen a raft of opinions on his valuation, some going as low as £15m.

I think we can rule out him going for that low a fee but what would you realistically want for him. Based on the current market, his importance in the squad (the only homegrown player), and his age and experience I can see a lot of clubs being interested.

If Bergvall, who has said he wants to leave and who couldn’t get into a Spurs team that finished 17th is valued at £40m that is probably what Villa will be looking for (although he is only 20 and probably seen as a bigger prospect).

I can see Villa accepting lower than that but would going as low as £30m be seen as cheap in this current market?

Edit: wow I didn’t realise Bogarde was hated by our fanbase so much. Shocked at the suggestion of below £20m which is basically less than what we got for Iroegbunam based on inflation. I think fans will be surprised at how much he goes for as he is heavily sought after and will only increase in value.

This could be one we come to regret as Brighton have a record of turning players into superstars and he would be perfect for them.

Following a desperately disappointing game where a very senior England team lost by quite a wide margin to a very weakened France team.

Not too many stood out but I wanted to give props to those that did but also highlight those who potentially aren’t up to international football.

Hots:

Opoku-Fordjour: Scrum looked good when he was on and collapsed when he went off. Looks far better at loosehead.

Martin: Good hands and good carrying.

Calouri: Very good in the air, always looked for work and everything good in attack came through him. He looks ready for international rugby.

Nots:

Ford: Open games don’t tend to suit Ford but as captain he didn’t lead, didn’t communicate with the referee once and bizarrely there were handling errors from him.

Curry: Very harsh as it’s completely understandable but he just wasn’t involved. Non effective at the breakdown.

Atkinson: I still see him as the long term 12 but just didn’t get England any go forward. None of the centres looked good at all though.

The entire bench: Can’t pick any individual as they were all equally bad. The scrum completely collapsed, the line out fell to pieces and the whole backline look disheveled.

Putting all the subs on at the same time was an atrocious decision and really the blame should more lie with the coaching staff than the players but even so basic handling errors and a faltering scrum is on players just not being at the level.

Before I get downvoted to hell, this is obviously just my opinion (literally as no one else seems to agree) but £90m imo would be great value.

This comes from someone who saw his potential before anyone else. As soon as he came off the bench in his first game I knew he was a player.

I’ve said for a while he’s a unicorn of a player. It’s so rare to be two footed, a goal scorer, a creator, a brilliant dribbler and strong as a bull.

However, we can’t forget he has been incredibly inconsistent. He was arguably outperformed by Buendia in 2026. He’s also only performed so far under Emery and we know Emery makes players look better. Under a different manager who doesn’t afford him the luxuries Emery does (not needing to track back) then it’s not unforeseen that he’d struggle.

If we got £90m, or even better, £100m, even with the 20% sell on that would give us £80m to sign 2, maybe three new attackers that we desperately need.

I get the argument about other players like Wirtz who have been poor going for more but different clubs have different situations which can’t be compared. Right now if we want to reinvent the squad it sounds like one player has to go. To me that only can be Rogers or Onana and Rogers would fetch more (plus Onana cost £50m).

Senior club sources state they are intent on retaining the 23-year-old and, with five years left on his contract, are in a strong position to do so.

Representatives of other Villa players believe the club will look towards the £100m sale of Jack Grealish to Manchester City in 2021 as a starting figure for Rogers before negotiations with any suitor.
