Bioactive WTF Viv is Done!

Mushrooms are DIY, branches and bark are from my yard, and the Pothos are my own cuttings and transplants. I’m waiting for their little bath bowl to arrive and I also need to add approximately 17 more inches of leaf litter 😂

UVB, Halogen bulb, LED plant light, and exhaust fan are installed. Everything except the fan is programmed to turn on and off with sunrise and sunset. Current temps are cycling at 90 at the basking spot with ambient temps ranging from 77-83 in various spots they can self regulate in. Nights aren’t dipping below 70. Humidity is high right now at 53% because I have substrate slightly moist to let my recently seeded CUC settle. Substrate is DIY ABG. There’s a PVC vinyl tube running from about 1” above my substrate down to the bottom of the drainage layer so I can keep my substrate drier at the top. Any moss you see is not loose, it’s siliconed onto the background so not an ingestion risk.

I think my favorite part, aside from the mushrooms, is I was able to create “hidden” potting stations behind the twisting branches; you can’t see them looking from the front, so the effect ends up being pothos that look like they’re growing *from* the vines.

Thanks for letting me yap about the build and my latest hyperfixation 🙂

Those eyes 🤩

He’s finally getting out of his lanky juvie stage too. His growth took off after moving into his 6’x3’ bioactive. I don’t handle him so I’m not sure of his exact weight at this point but he’s so much less lanky than his juvenile features. Despite not handling him, he does occasionally allow a quick touch, and he never has an issue with me being in his viv to feed, prune plants, etc.

In Process Bioactive WTF Viv

It’s in the ugly phase 🥲🥲

All wood is naturally sourced. I made the mushrooms from carved foam, then drylok’d them, acrylic painted, and polyurethane sealed.
