I need a (long) quote from Consider Phlebas.

Hello,

I would like to ask a good soul if she or he can post (or send as a private message) the entire opening chapter of the book, it's about two or three pages long.

The reason is I am currently illustrating it, but I only have a french edition. Displaying pictures relating to the original text would be better.

It's strictly a fan artwork, nothing commercial here. I do it for fun and to enhance my portfolio.

The irony is I asked it before in this sub but my posts where deleted by some reddit automatic filter (because who knows why) recently.

Large Moon Terrain

This is a Moon landscape sculpture. I tried to render the dusty look of regolith and the way in which meteorite impact craters cover the ground.

I hope you'll like it!

Hmmm

Kobra S1

Hello,

I am trying to make sense of this issue and troubleshoot it. how, why.

So far, it happened one time before, always with that same white ASA. Now it seems it will happen every time. My understanding is the matter is cooling/deforming too much, to contract and rise up. Until the head hits it and everything goes south, parts are projected below. Also I saw some small bubbles of melted/burned plastic here and there, not belonging to any layer anymore. They may accumumate and grow so big they make the print fail. Something like heat or flow rate is not correct. I don't know.

Also I assume the cooking/deformation may be linked to the size of the print, that is large but it's perhaps 1/6 of the plate surface, not even half. The plate was cleaned just before.

The previous time, pic 3 to 5, a long slice of layers 10 cm long got stuck into the head ( the red part), so long it reached the fan and blocked it. Meanwhile the print was still going on and the hot matter was sticking on itself, growing into this bubble of halfburned plastic. It went close to break the entire printer, luckily I stopped it before and the carter falled.

Any ideas and advices? this white ASA is crap? (it was dry, I opened it up like two days ago).

Gathering Storm - The Expanse (original design)

Hello,

Here are pics of my print, and some screen captures of the file.

I’ve been working on this project of designing the Gathering Storm for a long time and it’s now well underway. The Gathering Storm, later called Storm, is a Laconian warship (a Pulsar-class fast destroyer) from the Expanse scifi books.

I split it into seven parts to allow bigger models. The ASA is performing well, but there are still a few annoying distortions at the top of the large blocks.

Of course, an FDM print is not the best way for this kind of details, but I can’t have a resin printer at home. I wait for someone to print one to see if it performs better.

It took me a long time to get art and tech to combine together into something printable. I had to develop a bunch of geometry nodes on Blender to ease modeling and the skin-generation process.

What do you think?

The Expanse: Gathering Storm

Version 1.6 Model Update!
The Gathering Storm has now better details with its armored skin.

The Gathering Storm appears in the Expanse's seventh book: Persepolis Rising. Without spoiling it, it's a laconian military warship that becomes a hero-ship like the Rocinante in this third trilogy of the Expanse.

This is an original design inspired by the book's descriptions. Hail to its authors! (aka James S. A. Corey), they created one of the very finest work of science fiction.

Content:

a 7 .stl files set. The model is split in seven parts to glue together.

I am confused about my status

Just trying to post. It seems to work.

I have tried to check shadowban, not allowed to send a message to anyone.

It started like this: I was posting on my account a video of a model I made, with a few links attached (like Etsy)

Then I got this mail

Important information about your Reddit account

Hi u/SGarnier,

At Reddit, we're always watching out for your privacy, safety, and security. Recently, after detecting some technical irregularities on your u/SGarnier account, we took the extra precaution of locking your account.

To unlock your account, reset your password now.

We recommend choosing a new password that you haven't used on Reddit or another website or app before.

To prevent your account from potential misuse, you won't be able to take part in communities or update the majority of your settings while your account is locked. Also, when you log in you'll see a red warning and a security message like this one asking you to reset your password.

Then I reset my password 3 times I think, and my account is in this unknown status, banned? I can read, but I can't write to anyone, can't post, can't check shadowban (so I guess I'm not).

Also can't appeal to anything to Reddit. tried many times, help is just looping pages. This is Kafkaiesque like in the castle. It seems everything is automated, no human at all in this.

I can see my account and my posts (all deleted), but it seems no one can't see me. Literaly a ghost now. I am nowhere and I don't understand why and how it is like this.

Please if you can read me answer, just say you can read!

Hello,

It's a model I made after CG pictures, there is no plan available yet.

Dassault Vortex-D is a demonstrator for a future reusable European spacecraft.  It is designed by French aircraft manufacturer Dassault, along with German satellite company OHB and Spanish engine manufacturer Arkadia.

This print model is a version 1.0, it may have revisions to enhance it or fix printing or faithfulness issues!

Print dimensions: 208 x 129 x 44 mm.
One single object in a STL file.
