A record nerd inquiry --- if anyone knows much regarding the blue cover variant of this (I've seen one single mention of it on the Discogs comments section) - what was up with Canyon Records and this bootleg era of CSNY? (this record absolutely rips)
I've been writing songs for half my life and I've surely landed on both sides, but this week I wrote a song (fairly simple verse and vocal melody) that I realized two days later was very derivative of an artist I listen to often.
At what point in your songwriting, at this stage, do you rewrite? Do you accept that it's just heavily inspired and carry on, or is there a threshold where you feel compelled to change something?
I'll likely keep what I have and alter the vocal melody structure some more but I was very curious to hear what you all have to say 🐢
Written and recorded across two days in the desert. Heart-on-the-sleeve indie rock type stuff. Never distributed on streaming so it's going out June 9th.
