For those of you currently working in creative industries: Film, Music, TV etc, how are you currently finding things?

Even though this sub started as a sphere of interest for primarily "big business", i feel like it's turned into a catch-all 9-5 subreddit. For those currently working in a creative industry, how are you finding things? I work in the music industry and it feels like everybody is clinging onto their job for dear life, whilst also being incredibly overworked/tired for very little remuneration. Is this the same in all creative industries currently?

What do you think our chances are against Port this weekend?

I feel that it is a winnable game, especially with the boys up and about after Saturday's performance. Feels like this is a really defining game for the rest of the season. We either win this and keep the feel-good factor going or we're back to square one. Within the 5 games after that we play Richmond, Esendon and West Coast so we could really start to get some momentum going. Of course, I don't think we will play finals, but it would be great to get a winning mentality going within the youngsters

Looking back, why did Acres play on in the semi final against Melbourne in 2023

Could have gone back and chewed 30 seconds off the clock, I always think how close he was to missing. If he missed that, he might not have made it out of the stadium alive

Post Match Thread: Carlton 14.9 93 defeat Western Bulldogs 13.10 88

It wasn’t pretty but we survive a late onslaught for Josh Fraser’s first victory. Thoughts?

I imagine that for the majority of those in their thirties and above the answer would be providing for their family and while I’m sure there are a fair few people in their twenties with families, it seems that most of us don’t have too much responsibility (relatively).

So, what is motivating you to work in AusCorp currently? All I can think of currently is how depressing the state of the world is and how I’ll probably never own a home. Ultimately, we are all stuck in late-stage capitalism and it feels like every-day I don’t really know why I’m going into work. To pay taxes to pedophile billionaires? To just be able to afford rent and save for a 10 day holiday? I always see posts here about how juniors are unmotivated and don’t really care about work but can you blame them? The social contract has been broken, why should anybody care currently?

However, for those of you in your twenties that are currently motivated, what by?

I'm in my first year of corporate (9 months in) out of uni and I just don't think it's for me. I'm really struggling with the pressure of it all and how i constantly think of work even when i'm not there. Before this job, I worked in and around hospitality since i was 16 and I'm thinking i should just go back and work in a bar/pub. The best thing about hospitality is that as soon as the shift is done you don't have to think about work again. You also have more freedom to choose your hours and it's easier to get leave approved. The only issue is that I feel like the majority of people look down on hospitality workers (wrongly of course) and I think that maybe i would struggle with the identity of it being my career? Has anybody here quit corporate to go work in a pub/low stress job?
