Does anyone know how long it takes to receive an extra battery?

Thinking about an extra MAX+.

Has anyone ordered a pack only? How long did it take to arrive?

Brake sensor working distance has changed in one unit.

Peculiar. Can't tell why, but one of my brake sensors now require a longer distance from the magnet to work. The sensor and cables have zero damage. The kit is 2 months old.

Installed in the same way but further apart from the magnet now.

I know is only the sensor because I swapped the cables to the other one while troubleshooting and is not a problem on the battery mount side, nor a bug in the system.

Any idea why that might happen?

Support answered fast. I'll be getting a replacement sensor hopefully soon.

New Chain two links shorter.

My 16 years old Specialized Crosstrail Expert came with a chain of 116 links (including the masterlink)

Chain is a KMC X9 for a 9 gear rear derailleur.

I ordered the exact same replacement chain, but it comes with 114 links according to the website.

I went to this chain length calculator and it says I need a chain with 114 links according to the geometry of the bike. BUT it also says "Note: The result applies to gear wheels with 10 teeth. When using newer gear wheels with 11 teeth, the chain length needs to be extended by 2 links (2.55 cm)."

Question: I wonder if by "gear wheels with 11 teeth" it means the smaller rear cog. And I also wonder how important this is and why does it need to be two links more.

After that I'll decide if I need to bring the chain to my bike repair shop and ask them to add two more links. Hoping they have the same chain model.

Bike geometry is:

455 milimeter chain stay lenght.
48 teeth big chain ring.
32 teeth big rear cog. 11 teeth smallest rear cog.

Thank you!

Brake sensors on "old" hydraulic brakes.

For those wondering since not all hydraulic brakes have the same geometry as depicted in the manual.

Here's how I installed mine. Works like a charm. (Will flush cut the zip tie remainder once I re tighten).

I'm glad I ordered them blindly. Turns out they're very nice to have. Makes downshifting to a stop natural again (no motor being engaged as you peddle as you gear down).

I have been skating mostly on 88A wheels.

In my well-known parking lot (smooth grippy tarmac), I know for a fact they don't slip when is wet.

Recently I got 85A Wheels, same brand. Tried in the same wet parking lot and they were slippery.

So: Softer wheels are more grippy on dry tarmac but slippery on wet tarmac.

What's your approach when going downhill (faster than set limit)?

As I mentioned in my other post, I go often below small bridges, so, downhill followed by a hill climb.

I approached the downhill at level 3, and when trying to go as I usually go to gain momentum, which is clearly beyond the motor speed limit, I felt how the motor was actually making me slowdown. Sort of the motor telling "eh! you're above the limit, I'll slow you down".

Could I avoid that by lowering to zero assist as I go downhill?

---

Hmmm, going to try tricking the bike into thinking it has a bromton wheel (mine has 700C wheels). For science.

UPDATE: With the bike on its correct settings, did some more rides under bridges, including a big one (big downhill and big climb). Turns out is better not to peddle going downhill, I let the bike go past max limit (I think I read 38Kph), didn't feel the motor fighting me at all as it was not active, nor felt any drag, and engaged the pedals when I reached 25Kmh during the climb. That made it smooth. If I actively peddle during the downhill the motor feels like is fighting me. Next time will try level 0 and peddle hard, then level 5 when climbing at 25Kph.

Switch MAX + with a 30Kg trailer (review).

I usually go pump foiling to a river about 10Km / 45min away from me when I go unassisted.

Bike is a 2010 Specialized Crosstrail Expert bike, really nice one. Behind me I have a 30Kg trailer with all the foil equipment plus a hefty Roland Cube EX. EDIT: I think is more like 40kg.

It is a bit of a chore, I go chilly at 16Kph but wanted to have a little bit of extra help, also wanted to help not breaking the chain eventually on a hill. so I got a Switch MAX+.

Most of the ride is flat, there are a couple hills when passing above / below / over bridges.

The Swytch made the experience such a freaking breeze!. So much easier. Barely any gear shifting, mostly to keep pace with the motor. Totally worked despite the trailer.

I did the 20Km round trip mostly at level 2 and 3. Barely any level 4 or 5. I was 99% of the time Cruising at 25Kmh (Europe's limit).

I came back home with two bars still on the battery.

Switch Max+ Arrived.

Ordered in November. They said delivery by February. Turned out to be End of April. (Austria)

Not too bad. I guess my rant support ticket helped, who knows.

Went for a spin, very nice, effortless even on hard climbs. Can't wait to see how it behaves with my 30Kg pumpfoil trailer (that is a flat commute).

Question:

I don't seem to have caps to cover the brakes and throttle sensors. Same for you?

I don't wanna put tape on them, that could actually store water/moisture.
