First day dress

For those that work at Anduril, how casual is it really? Have my first day coming up and they say jeans or shorts are fine. Are shorts really ok? Is HQ cold?

Is there any time / positions that you shouldn’t? Say meeting with a costumer or being a senior IC or manager?

Advice, Sell house? Rent?

A family member has come to ask the rest of the family advice on path forward and I really don’t know what to tell them is the best option, maybe I’m not thinking of some factors that you all would. Let me break down the situation.
They have a house worth maybe $800k
They owe (amounts and % are estimates of what I remember them saying)
Mortgage 475k @ 3%
Heloc 150k @ 8.5%
Car $30k @ 5.xx%
Personal loan 57k @ 7.49%
Credit cards 60k half 0% for a year and then like 15% for other half
Here are the options they presented:

  1. Sell house pay off all debt, free up salary and save 4-6k/month…maybe more? They didn’t go into details on monthly debt to income numbers. They assume after fees and all they wouldn’t walk away with any additional cash in pocket
  2. Rent out the whole house which would cover mortgage and HELOC. Tighten up and pay off remaining debt in 5 years or less. Concerned about renting to strangers and random issues with the house.
  3. Rent house at costs to trusted family, break even on mortgage. Slower road to pay off, maybe 5-7 years if diligent. They feel better about renting to family and still having options with using the house.

I think their biggest hold up on not just selling is the 3%? Valid hold up? Which option should I throw my support towards? Is there another option?

I should say they are, at least for the next few years moving to a different state and don’t need to live in this house. They (and actually the whole family) love their house though 🤷‍♀️

What does this mean?

I have a co-worker I like, and we get a long really well, talk at work quite a bit. But if I’m away from the office working (from home/another location) or he is, he’ll never message me, I always message him first and then he is very active in the conversation. But will never instigate. It could be two weeks, and we wouldn’t talk unless I messaged something. Then I do because I miss talking to him and it’ll be a long all day back and forth with both parties equally participating (not dealing with one word answers). Is he oddly message shy? Not interested? Indifferent/ ignorant to the fact I feel something there? 🤷‍♀️

Some context, we are different teams, same level, not concerned about anything being considered work inappropriate. This is specific to when we are not located at the office together and just online/messaging contact available.

Annual bonus via RSU

Is there a going percentage that an annual bonus (RSUs) is on average? 10% of base, etc? Same for annual base increases, generally 3%? Or very performance based with big swings?

Is he into me?

I am 40 he’s 27 and we work together. I’m fluffy average and he’s fit average/above average. We can run into each other in the hall and talk for 10-45 min about anything, never actual work. And sometimes our run ins seem, planned. Like he knows I get a coffee at xxx time and he’ll be in my path there. When we talk in a group or go out in a group to lunch, he stands or sits next to me. When we’re talking alone it’s usually in closer than coworker proximity to one another as well, think 2ft or less. He has crazy good eye contact like, I think he’s knows more about me than I do the way he gazes into my eyes without looking away 😂 we both arrive at the same time (this is a large office, people arrive anytime). Sometimes he’s sitting there and when he sees me pull up he’ll get out and we walk in together, sometimes he just sits there. In meetings when I’m across from him he’ll do this big stretch with arms way up and leaning back and it exposes his hairy abs…I like hairy 😂 not sure he actually knows that. But he does look to see if I’m looking. I know I should just give him some eyes and shoot my shot but I don’t want to make work awkward. I’ve always been told, you’ll know if a guy likes ya…but I can’t tell with this one. Body language and conversations alone I’d say yes BUT besides running into each other, I always initiate conversation or messages. Nothing over board but I just started to notice, if I just sat at my desk all day and didn’t move, he wouldn’t come talk to me. He may walk near my desk, see if I’m there but doesn’t intentionally stop and talk. Also we work together but on different teams so it would be hard to have a “workplace” thing to talk about if he was trying to make an excuse to stop by. Soooo verdict? Or instead of “workplace” flair should I have picked “am I overthinking”?

Relocation packages

For those that have received offers and used the relocation packages, what do they look like? Other DoD contractor relos (third party you work with and they do most everything)? Some kind of lump sum, etc?

Manager position interview

Anyone been through the process for a manager role? Non-engineering, doing “panel” soon via zoom. Any tips? Does the panel need to agree unanimously or is it scoring? And if one person says they don’t think the culture fits is it a no go? Thanks!
