i HATE yànwō (bird's nest soup)

im vietnamese and ive eaten it before so i get to talk about it. this is soup made from the saliva of a swiftlet nest. from all standpoints, it is the worst food ever

taste - on its own, the boiled nest turns into a clear jelly that tastes like nothing, and the flavor only comes from what else was cooked in it. it's a loss to use seasoning and other ingredients along with a tasteless ingredient.

obtaining - swiftlets in the wild are found in very high up limestone caves, and people DIE trying to obtain the nests. sometimes, poachers will throw the eggs out to get the nests, instead of finding empty ones, screwing over the population. for the consumer, this soup can cost over a hundred dollars at a restaurant, due to how difficult it is to get the main ingredient.

illness - In traditional medicine, it is consumed as a restorative superfood believed to improve skin, boost immunity, and restore vital energy. This isn't entirely true, because there are all kinds of cheaper foods that have more nutrition. the nests themselves are already composed of bird saliva, but they can also have the bird's feces in them, which can harbor E. coli or Salmonella, as well as fungal mold, as well as toxic nitrites, so if improperly prepared, you can get sick from eating it. this isn't even getting into the possible anaphylaxis if you have an allergy.

in summary this food is expensive, hard to make, can make you sick, and tastes like nothing special. there is no reason for it to exist.

how come this can exist in the game but not the normal bobsled

even the wiki says it's just an unknown reason but i don't see why it's not possible

anyone else think that yellow's characterization was a bit insensitive at first

The idea of suicide in deltarune and undertale is taken with complete sincerity, in most cases. Asgore kills himself in the second neutral route if flowey doesn't, flowey himself also is implied to have killed himself to learn how to use saves, alphys goes missing and is implied to have gone this way in neutral routes, chara, twice (under the assumption they jumped down the mountain to die, and again for the plan.) The weird route's climax is also meant to be a suicide parallel, because even if she's not intending to die, noelle is still planning to put herself in danger and never come back.

and then there's the yeller feller. "oh no my bf's very expendable magic flowers were trampled and i think i did it because im very stupid, i have to try to kill myself 40 times" like i understand the characters (apart from aqua) take it seriously, but it's taking this serious topic and using it for the butt of a prolonged joke. maybe i'm a little sensitive because ive been there and done it but when i first played the chapter i hated this because i feel like it was making light of something that's very serious.

but i warmed up to him when i realized that it makes perfect sense for the combined mental energy of a very isolated and traumatized kris, and a very lonely and defeated asgore, to subconsciously create a guy who wants to kill himself at a minor inconvenience, not to mention after a while the fact that it's so over the top and slapstick makes it wrap around to being so horrible it's funny again. like it would be one thing if yellow hung himself instead of just trying to explode himself, but still im curious what other people think.

i dont like SOME OF the cutscenes which are just black screens

slide 2 has a fanmade thing with a fanmade cutscene during the diner portion, which already adds a whole lot as compared to just susie talking in a black void.

there are times when a black screen cutscene is appropriate, like when kris has their eyes closed, but at other times why not add one illustration

there's an illustration in chapter 1 (slide 3) that is the only instance of characters in the game appearing in high resolution pixel art i think, could use something like that

keeping Tenna in castle town is a good thing actually

I think people thinking that Tenna being stuck in castle town is bad for him are missing the point. The entire thing about Ralsei's arc is that darkners should be their own people, yes? So why should Tenna be any different?

There isn't anything preventing him from having a good life in castle town, his loneliness is his own fault. He's literally having fun playing basketball with queen! and no other darkners feel as though they need a lightner's attention to be loved (apart from Ralsei, but he's growing out of it).

If you feel bad for Tenna and give him away because you pity him, then you've fallen for his emotional manipulation tactics, just like everyone else did. Tenna is a manipulator at heart- he doesn't do it intentionally, but he is. he says stuff like "oh kris remember how you LOVE me and all the stuff and your brother and your father who are people you clearly feel uncomrotable with? well i don't really care because you love tv right? ahahaha!" he's so self pitying that it's no wonder that none of his associates even like him. The only reason Mettaton hasn't thrown Tenna into the trash is because he is also a narcissist so they have a lot to discuss (he would have abandoned the entire underground if Napstablook didn't call him), except actually they don't because Tenna is effectively dormant in the ghost house. They would probably get sick of him like everyone else has if he could actually talk in there.

giving him to mettaton is just giving him what he wants, which is unhealthy. he's like incels who say they deserve to have a girlfriend because the world treated them bad. he has friends in castle town. he could apologize for what he did, and try to make amends for his toxic behavior. this [TRASH HEAP] needs to learn to be an actual functioning person like EVERYONE ELSE in castle town. he could be castle town's entertainer. he could add more stuff to the tv building. he could do whatever he wants. but instead he just wallows in self pity like a diet BoJack Horseman, until he guilt trips you into giving him his next fix.

i love him

this room is boring

You're telling me that all that they could salvage to make Tenna's room is just one of the podiums? That's it? No vending machine? No couch? No bed? NO TV? All he gets is just a podium, lanino and elnina which end up moving out later, rouxls lamp which also doesn't belong there, and the hat rack who doesn't even know tenna at all. I expected better from this room. this is the worst castle town room ever. maybe tenna would actually be happy in castle town if you gave him actual stuff
