I snowballed and binged for the first time in months. Can't workout and feel disgusted. How do I not let this consume me.

I started getting my weight slowly under control back in May. As of Wednesday I was down 50 pounds. I had gone four months without binging. I can’t think of the last time I had that long of a streak. Then I had a rough month. Spent a lot of money on unexpected car issues, pulled an ab muscle, and had surgery on my wrist for carpal tunnel release last week.

I haven’t been able to strength train the way I want for a while due to not having a car for a bit and loss of grip strength with carpal tunnel. I haven’t been able to walk much either due to the muscle strain. I thought I was managing it well. I lowered my daily calorie intake to offset the loss of burned calories and kept a positive outlook.

I had my carpal tunnel release surgery last week. A friend came into town and stayed with me to help. She does not calorie count and kept wanting to go get unhealthy foods; it was hard to turn down when I both couldn’t do much for myself and also secretly really wanted it. I feel like the week slowly snowballed me back into bad habits. I ate out multiple times, drank alcohol three nights, had sweets most days, and barely moved around because I’m trying to heal both the ab muscle and wrist. I still logged everything and while I went over most days, I only went over maintenance a couple times.

Well she left yesterday. I told myself it was time to get back into routine, but what did I do? Instacart'ed donuts and chips and binged it all in one night. I’m sure I had around 4K calories yesterday on top of all the extra calories throughout the past week. Can’t really blame it on her anymore since she’s not here.

I feel horrible. I don’t want to fall back into old patterns. I feel stuck and I am having spiraling thoughts. I'm worried that when I get to the point of using both hands again, I'll be too deep into bad habits to pull out of and I'll lose my progress. I know part of it is because I’m bored. All my normal hobbies include using two hands which I can’t do for a while. I also haven't been taking my ADHD meds due to the surgery, though I will be starting back tomorrow.

The positive side is that I think my ab muscle is mostly healed, so I'm going to go try and drive to my closest park today as long as my hand can handle it. I just needed to speak this into existence. Any kind words or rational thinking would be appreciated.

TL;DR: a serious of unfortunate events has caused me to binge. Any advice on not letting it consume me is appreciated.

Trying to build muscle but work out first thing in the morning. When is the best time to take medicine?

I am currently on a weight loss journey (officially lost 35 pounds of this morning!) and I am trying to figure out the best time to take my medicine.

My current routine is that I am up around 5:45-6AM. I take medicine, eat a fast carb, then strength train at my gym. I am consuming fast carbs because I am trying to give my body energy before my heavy lifting so I can perform better. I care about building muscle just as much as I do about losing weight. I then come home, shower, and consume a protein shake. The problem is the medicine metabolizes too fast and I am dead tired by 2PM. I work a 9-5 and have responsibilities after work. This has been painful but I've been living with it.

Tuesday morning I woke up and had my fast carb and forgot to take my medicine before leaving. I figured ~2 hours later wouldn't be too bad since it wears off so quick these days. I came home after working out and finished out my normal routine but took the Vyvanse while consuming my shake. It finally lasted all day and sadly too late into the night. I had horrible sleep and I don't want that because It can also impact gym performance.

So yesterday morning I tried again to make sure it wasn't a fluke. I waited to take my Vyvanse with my protein shake (~8AM) and the same thing happened. I felt alert at work and after, but still felt it too late in the evening.

Does anyone have tips for how I can accurately time this so that I can still perform well, be productive, and not be wired late in the evening? I don't want to change the time of when I go to the gym. If it isn't the first thing I do, I won't do it.

I’m officially down 20lbs

I(28F) weighed myself after the new year and was at the highest I’d ever been, 330.

I never had the best relationship with food and my goal this year was to fix that. I’ve had been on both ends of the ED spectrum, and I wanted to find something that would help me life a healthy life without yo-yoing between extremes.

For the first four months, I very slowly focused on eating real food instead of door dashing. I also tried to leave my house more. It was really fucking hard. I had so much anxiety about being in public and it caused some emotional binges. But I kept trying. My relationship with food had gotten a little better, but my anxiety along with other things still controlled my life.

Around April, I had an honest conversation with myself that I needed outside help with my mental state. I’d been in and out of therapy since I was 19, and always was afraid of taking medication because I thought it would make me lesser than. That it was a sign I was lazy and not trying to fix myself. That I wanted a quick fix.

I let go of my pride and met with a psychiatrist at the end of April and she diagnosed me with ADHD. I have since been on medication for it and it’s changed my life.

During May, I experienced lack of food noise for the first time in my life(along with noise in general). I left my house more in the month of May than I had the last six months because I wasn’t overthinking every little thing.

During June, I started moving my body consistently again. I didn’t start a workout plan, I told myself to go walk on the treadmill for 20-30 minutes 4-5 times a week. I just wanted to get in the habit of waking up and being in the gym.

Now in July, I have officially started a workout plan that involves strength training. I weighed myself this morning and I am currently sitting at 309.5lbs.

I think the majority of weight loss started in May, but I’m not sure since I’ve just started weighing myself. I still have a long way to go, put its progress. And for the first time in my life I’m not trying to rush to get the number down. I just want to feel good.

For anyone who read this far, don’t forget to check in with your mental health, it may be the thing holding you back.

I made a Crystal Temple planter

Hello! I’ve never watched the show, but my best friend and her wife(also a good friend) are in love with the show.

The wife’s birthday is this week, so I have spent all of my free time during the month of June hand building and glazing this ceramic! Im a little sad that some of my detail got lost behind the glaze, but overall happy.
It the most intensive piece I’ve done so far, and I hope I’ve done it justice for them.

I figured this was the best place to show this off before i actually gift it to her on Friday.

Hit my 6 month emergency fund today!!

I(27F) grew up in poverty. My parents never had any savings nor did they put anything towards retirement. They will be working until the day they die.

I started taking my finances serious 3 years ago out of fear of becoming like them. I now have 6 month emergency fund, no debt aside from student, 10% going to my retirement, monthly contributions to a Roth IRA, and a little bit in a brokerage fund.

I think I will always have some level of stress when it comes to money due to how i was raised, but this is the most financially comfortable I have felt in my life. Can't really share with the people in my life but I wanted to say it somewhere.
