First oil painting

Hi everyone! I started working on my first ever oil painting and I’m looking for some tips to help me get better. This is the first layer of my painting that I just finished today. I am planning to go back in to refine some details and soften some of the tendrils around the chest. I am also thinking of glazing over it with a green/yellow colour but I’m afraid of ruining it so I might just leave the colours as they are now. Please let me know what you think I should do for this painting and how I can improve in the future :)

I tried to lighten my roots only 1-2 levels to match the rest of my hair and it lifted right to a level 8 yellow blonde instead of going through the orange phase where I wanted it. It is also very uneven because I was trying to work fast after I realized how quick it was lifting. I tried to fill the blonde with copper but still it was way too light. After putting purple dye over it my roots are still way brighter than the rest of my hair. How do I fix this? I used Arctic Fox purple AF on my whole head. Is there maybe a deeper purple I could use to cover the bright roots and even it out a bit?
