How to research about Companies & Markets?

I'm eager to learn how to do proper market research for stocks and finance.

A few questions I have regarding this:-

  1. How do you research a company from scratch?
  2. What financial metrics should I focus on first?
  3. How do you keep up with market and economic news?
  4. What beginner mistakes should I avoid?

How do I leverage AI in this?

I'd really appreciate any advice or resources. Thanks!

Should I do MBA?

19M & 9/9/7 (expected)

1st year of B.Com(Hons) done @ below average college of Delhi University.

Placement are mostly for sales & marketing type roles with package around 5-6 LPA.

Learning Valuation, Financial Modelling & Equity Research and want to build a career in these fields.

Also wanted to pursue CFA but don't have enough money even if get the scholarship it will still cost me ₹50K+ just for lvl 1 without any job guarantee.

Should I go for MBA bcoz it atleast guarantee a job but at the same time requires some job experience (for better package & getting into top b-schools).

If I prepare seriously for CAT then I wouldn't have enough time to upskill myself and try doing internships.

What the should I do?

Indian Sub reddit for Financial Modelling & Valuation talks

How helpful would it be if we had an Indian Reddit community dedicated specifically to financial modelling and valuation, where we could discuss modelling techniques, valuation methodologies, and best practices in depth?

It could be a space to clear doubts, review and refine each other’s financial models, share templates, and give feedback.

We could also discuss real-world case studies, industry-specific modelling approaches, common mistakes, and interview prep focused on financial modelling and valuation roles.

FMVA V/s Parth Varma's AVFM

If anyone has taken any of these please share your honest opinion

CFI'S FMVA @ ₹12K

Parth Varma’s AVFM @ ₹19K

I'm not preparing for CFA I just want to upskill myself and land strong Internship opportunities and reach a level where I can confidently pick any company from the market and make a Full fledged Financial Model + Valuation Report on it
