How do you drink a juice (or another drink) during a meal?
I alternate but my family drinks it at once after the meal. I found that slightly weird, but I guess it's normal.
As much as I am fine with Xander leaving Anya at the altar, it was pretty cowardly of him to leave her to tell all the guest by herself
How Buffy speaks about sex with Spike
I find it sad how Buffy twice refers to sex with Spike s something she allowed him to do to her, even in S7 and after he gets a soul and everyone knows about their relationship... even though we often see that she enjoyed and initiated it, it wasn't an empowering experience.
Horror/thriller movies that is mostly a group in a single location and a secret to uncover
Movies such as Bodies Bodies Bodies, All My Friends Hate Me, Clue, The Last Supper, Cabin in the Woods and The Invitation (2015): comedy (minus The Invitation), one group in mostly one intimate setting, and then a murder or something occurs.
Spike and turning his mom
Saw a comment that said Spike initiated the incestuous subtext between him and his mom by biting and turning her, which is usually taboo in vampire fiction. I don't know how much of that is true. Thoughts?
Reptile Boy question
Did the sacrifice require virgins? If so, how did they know Buffy and Cordelia were virgins? I wouldn't automatically assume that just because they're in highschool, especially cause they seemed the popular type.
If Angel was cancelled after only one season and Angel and Cordelia returned, what do you think Buffy S5-7 would've been like (if I'm not mistaken, Joss Whedon said that if AtS didn't work, Charisma and David would be welcome to work on Buffy again)?
I recall reading there, but not the source, so I might be wrong.
Well
I realized before those storylines were similar, but not that much
Would you feel sad about an ex you have no feelings for getting married?
reddit.comHow would Buffy respond if Spike had told her he was going to get a soul?
If either pre or post Seeing Red, Spike had come up and said he realized he needs a soul to be worthy of her, or for her to accept him or something along those lines, so he's going to Africa get one, how would she react?
Do you think Anya was "infantilized"?
I've seen someone make an interesting point that unlike other age gap, supernatural relationships such as Angel and Buffy and even Spike and Buffy, Anya rarely seems to be the one with the wisdom in spite of her thousands of years of life experiences, and Xander had to constantly correct her on things (but I also know some people see this as Anya being neurodivergent, or just too literal of a person).
Does it happen to you that when you try to join a conversation, it is not well received or it dies immediately?
Today for instance I was in UNI class and a group was enthusiastically talking about a movie I've watched. Then, it got quiet and after 20 minutes of me trying to build up the courage, I turned to one of the girls, who is probably the most sympathetic/extroverted in class, and asked if she likes this genre, what movies of this genre she likes, "oh I want to watch that movie too, only read the book, have you ever read it?" She was polite and smiled, but didn't ask me anything in return, and the interaction ended almost immediately.
That has happened to me quite a few times, and it's quite discouraging to be wondering what I did wrong.
What is your most "out there" idea for a spin-off that you still would've been down to watch?
Were or would you be upset if you delivered a school/college assignment in time and the teacher extended the deadline for students who couldn't get it done on time?
reddit.comBuffy slaying by herself
In early S5, they are planting the seeds to the fracture in Buffy and Riley's relationship, and it seems one of the seeds is Buffy slaying by herself: in Buffy vs Dracula, she is sneaking off while he sleeps, and in Out of My Mind she is displeased with him showing up at the cemetery. But why is it bad that Buffy wants to have something just for herself as she is coming into her power? I would've thought it was fairly healthy for two people in a relationship to want time alone for their own hobbies (just an example). Or was it reinforcing the idea that she can't be satisfied with a human boyfriend that can't keep up?
Spike's love for Buffy is really about his unresolved issues with his mother
Not only there's the physical resemblance and middle name association, but David Fury has said that in Season 7 Buffy became a maternal figure to Spike (questionable direction to take their relationship). It recontextualizes his feelings for her and where they come from, by implying since he had to kill the mom that was seemingly the only intimate connection he's ever had (relevantly, for coming onto him), he has since wanted a substitute for that in a woman. It also kind of ruined his speech for me, when he said his love is "selfless" (has nothing to do with him), so I'm not sure why this is never brought up.
I don't believe Buffy loved Riley in all caps, but I believe she was getting there. The night Joyce came home safe from surgery, for instance, the first thing Buffy did was take the time to have a romantic night with Riley and she opened up about the walls she put up when Joyce was sick. "Oh, I cried. I cried so hard, I didn't think I was gonna be able to stop." Multiple episode showed us she is aware of how she pulls away from people, but, if she didn't have the trauma of dying and coming back, I believe she would've surpassed that with Riley and loved him. And honestly, she was only 20 and they were not dating for that long, and Riley wanted to get married as soon as possible. He is the one impulsive one.
