What has been your experience with dog friendly rentals in Vancouver and the Metro?

My family and I are considering relocating to Vancouver Metro area. We have 2 30 kg dogs. I’ve heard it can be difficult to find dog friendly rentals. Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with this?

Has anyone been able to break the contact nap cycle?

My LO is 13 weeks.

She used to sleep fairly well during the day in her crib. But for the past 3 weeks, all but 2 naps have been contact naps. To get her to sleep, I put her in a carrier, bounce her on a yoga ball, with a pacifier in her mouth, in a dark room. This is successful in getting her to nap and she wakes up a happy baby (most of the time).

She usually rouses at 25 minutes, but I can sooth her for another cycle to get 50 mins- 1 hour in total.

Her night sleep is great, she’s giving us long stretches with 1-2 wakings.

I try one crib nap per day, which usually fails upon transfer. If she awakens in her crib, she stays awake for a looong time.

I’ve tried all the transfer hacks - waiting until her arm goes limp, waiting 20 minutes, putting down bottom first, keeping my hand on her belly, shushing… she just naps so lightly these days it seems anything will wake her up! Even in the carrier, she wakes up at the slightest changes in light or sound.

During the day, she is awake for roughly 2 hours and sleeps for one hour for a nap. I’ve found 2 hours in the sweet spot, her suggested wake windows are too short and she fight the nap much harder when we go down earlier.

Here is an example schedule -

8am - wake up, WW1
10am - nap 1
11am -WW2
1pm - nap 2
2pm- WW3
4pm - nap 3
5pm - WW4
6pm - WW5, final feed
6:30-7pm- bedtime

If she wakes earlier, the schedule is adjusted with 2 hour wake windows and 1 hour naps. She may take a 4th nap if necessary.

I believe all of this is developmentally normal. I’m not searching for 2 hour naps or anything like that. I’m looking for advice on how to get her back in the crib. My back is killling me and I’m going back to work soon. Is there anything I can do?

Worth it to crib train for naps?

My LO is 12 weeks. She has never been a great napper, but has always been a good night sleeper. Currently we get about 10 hours of sleep per night with one, maximum two, wake-ups for feeds. She consistently has one stretch of 6-8 hours at the beginning.

Naps have become a struggle.
She used to take several naps a day in her crib with maybe one contact nap when her crib attempt failed. Now, she will only fall asleep in the carrier, in a dark room, bouncing on a yoga ball.

What’s more, I used to be able to get things done while baby wearing, but now when I enter the bright common space, prepare food, pet the dogs, etc… she wakes up in the carrier!

This has been the status quo for a week.
Is it worth it to intentionally crib train her for daytime naps at this point? My back is killing me and I’ve lost all my productive time!
