I just finished S2 and it made me realize I may not be critical enough

I don't know if anyone else can relate, but as I read through the post-episode discussion threads I saw how everyone has a particular character they dislike.. it made me realize I just don't feel the same!

I honestly feel a bit stupid for being this way, but I found myself enjoying each of the protagonists while also recognizing that what they're doing is horrible. It makes me wonder if I'm not a critical enough viewer, and that I may be taking things too much at face value. This happens to me a lot, I think I automatically root for a character placed in a protagonist role which has been made incredibly clear with BEEF's format of multiple protagonists (especially with S2 having four of them).

We've all seen the thumbnail by now, and with it came discourse (as many things for this show seem to do). However, something I took notice of was how people talk about this show's bait thumbnails.

At this point it's something we EXPECT, we recognize that clickbait is ONC's bread and butter; however instead of people calling it clickbait or shipping bait everyone seems to jump to the big, bad, *queerbait*. I'm sorry but... that's just not possible!

Disventure Camp has too much representation for anyone to accuse ONC of queerbaiting their audience, it just doesn't work that way. Queerbait is the profiting off of queer characters and ships while not actually utilizing or representing those groups in any meaningful way; except Disventure Camp *does* represent its LGBTQ+ fans.

This isn't to say you can't have a problem with the constant baiting, it can be annoying for sure, but the fanbase needs to reflect and realize the difference between queerbait and clickbait. Especially when this show consistently treats straight and gay couples with the same amount of respect (if not moreso for the gay couples lmao).
