I just stung up my VI with a set of LaBella flats

And I don't think it's right for me 🥲 too much tension and not enough of the clang I grew to love with the round wounds. Makes it play more like a bass but I think I prefer it being a strange middle ground between bass and guitar. Just wanted to share my pain as these strings were not cheap

Since we're on the topic of chud movies today

I shouted "oh no!" at my screen when I saw big Yud's mug on this AI propaganda flick. Most media I manage to avoid ads but I was watching Ponies on my exercise bike and I'll be damned if I'm paying for the premium version of Peacock when I get it for free already.

Fans of the pod may recognize him from numerous eps about the bay area AI grifters. Others may be fans of his very lengthy Harry Potter fanfic, *Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality.* Many years ago I used to frequent certain forums that were rationalist-adjacent (before I knew what that was) and his name and "the sequences" kept popping up like references to religious texts. Every time I would bother to read something being referenced I thought I was missing something-- these are clearly the writings of a pompous blowhard who thinks he's discovering the wheel.

The crowd was populated equally by well-meaning libs and skull-measuring crytpofascists before they dropped the crypto and they argued as if they were battling for the very soul of Rationality as a "movement" (bowel movement perhaps). One weird bit of trivia, David Berman of the Silver Jews was on that same forum on the well-meaning lib side; his handle somehow became known posthumously. I found it funny that one of my musical heroes was on there arguing with the same deranged lunatics that I was before I realized it was such a waste of time.

I saw Eric Rosen at the St. Louis Chess Club yesterday

I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away to go listen to more of the tactics lecture with grandmaster JJ, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I went upstairs to go play the weekly quads I saw him try to take his phone out before we started. The arbiter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “phones are not allowed in the tournament room.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually he put his phone in his pocket.

When they announced the tournament would be starting, he stopped them and demanded that the knights on every DTG board be turned inward to face each other, “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. His opponent played a Berlin and offered a draw, but he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Eastwood drops a new Bass VI

They're always putting out new extended range models and interesting one-offs. I can't justify a $1,500 purchase in the least but I'll admire it from afar.

Going from 3 PCs to 6 tomorrow. Any advice?

I've only run a total of four sessions, and this is actually the second session for this particular group. Most of the PCs are inexperienced.

I realize this is ambitious. I've got a pretty fun and straightforward session planned though, so not feeling too overwhelmed, but still would love to hear your tips or things you discovered when DMing for a larger group.

Neverafter soundtrack soundalike

I kept hearing this in the Neverafter soundtrack and had to track it down because it was bothering me! They must have used GY!BE's 09-15-00 as a reference track.

No shade to the composer, soundalikes for royalty-free music is a well-established tradition, and the ambiance is pretty different, but the melody and texture is def the same, including the tremolo effect. Curious if anyone else noticed it.
