The automatic gratuity- a thing I never encountered

I went on vacation on the coast and EVERY. SINGLE. PLACE. Has a 18-20% gratuity.
Shit is already as expensive as it is and with the automatic gratuity AND the tip I basically pay double than what I should.

This enrages me like nothing else.

ETA- I am not American so this is new to me.

The “kinda chic” trend turned everyone into a pick me girl

“Kinda chic to collect passport stamps instead of designer bags”
“Kinda chic to not have married a looser”

And so on.
Good grief, seeking validation much? Soooo quirky 🙄
I hate these trends. It’s almost as infuriating as the one “I met my old self for coffee” 🙄😬

Am I just old and cranky or am I noticing a lot of sloppy work ?

I have been a nurse for 10 years ( I am 34 yo).
I work jn a busy ER-over the past year I noticed a sloppiness in the work environment that drives me bonkers.

For example: I come on shift and patients are not hooked up to the monitor when they need to be.

Vitals are not done for 6+ hours.
Temperature not checked for over 24hrs. Patient that needed OR still in his street clothes.

Blood pressure cuff over the thick sweater.

Dried blood on the monitoring equipment.

Linen bags overfilled and full of pillows and garbage that should not be there.

Doctors leaving their bloody sharps and equipment in the room.

Don’t get me started on tech staff who just sit there while there are call lights going on and tasks to be completed and when I kindly ask I get an eye roll.

Now, I don’t think I am unreasonable that these are the bare minimum tasks for everyone to be working smoothly. It truly takes more time to pick up this slack than doing the tasks at the moment.

We are all busy. But that is not an excuse to not check a temperature for over 24 hours.

Crossfitters opinion

I recently unlocked the rope climbs!

I have used my INov 8 and I really like them but I feel they are a bit thin.

Any CrossFit amateur athlete has any recommendations for shoes that are functional for rope climbs but also not super stiff and usable for training?
I am honestly happy with wider tor box rather than minimalist shoes for this type of activity.

Shoes for rope climb

I have done some rope climbs in the INOV8

I usually wear minimalist shoes so that was great, but I found that they are a bit too thin 😬

What do you recommend as a CrossFit shoe that is good for rope climbs?
I prefer them with a wide toe box, not necessarily minimalist:)

Can we normalize not doing side quests?

Of course if I am not running around i am more than happy to reach out to a provider, dig into the chart to update a family member and stuff like that.

But I am so sorry, I am so done being the middle man/ professional side quest person.

“Oh this lab is critical can you let the doctor know?”
“Uh, can YOU call the doctor?”

“Do you have this patient?”
“No, sorry, but the assignment board is up there”.

“Do you know where nurse Jack is? Can you tell him XYZ”
“He is around, you can either wait here a sec or there are the phone numbers there and you can call him”

“Do you know if this is the ABC patient over there?”
“I do not but you can ask the patient directly”.

Jfc why do people have zero idea on how to figure shit out?

Mind you, I do not mind taking a call or help out if I am not doing anything or WHEN we have new peeps starting.
I am talking about seasoned professionals who have been at the workplace longer than I have and still cannot be bothered.

And they always ask me when I am carrying narcotics for other patients 😭 again, I am more than happy to help even when I am done, but stop expecting nurses do go on 5000 side quests.

Rant done.

I have been trying to get my friends into Eurovision and none of them is interested 💀

As every year, I am dealing with post Eurovision blues.

I live in the US and I am from southern Europe. I have been trying to get my American friends and family into the Eurovision and it seems like it’s not going well lol

Some of them acknowledged some songs are good but I think the biggest turn pff is that these are not known artists and the fact that often they do not sing in English has them not very interested.

I am a bit disappointed but I am glad on that note that Joost was able to bring Europapa at Coachella!

Anyone in a similar convo? 💀
