Mate fell asleep and dropped his laptop crushing the power button, needed a temp fix and I hate it

We are both waiting for the silver pro upgrade kits to come out and well my mate dropped his laptop and the top cover got crushed and the power button got stuck down as the top cover was bent over it, his solution pilers and a file even though its temporary I do not like it.

Also side note we are both IT repair technicians and when he showed me the original damage I said replacement and he said hammer so now I have been reminded why I supervise him and not the other way around

Synology DS923+ basically destroyed by DSM7.4

Hi everyone, not sure if anyone else is having issues since DSM7.4 came out.

I updated my unit to DSM7.4 with basically no issues, however today I got some new drives and decided i would pull everything off the unit and fully set it back up again, and well it's not been going well

The unit took over 40 minutes to restart after the fresh install and when it first loaded it only had the control panel and package manager installed on it and wouldn't let me install anything. I reinstalled it again, taking another seemingly lengthy install about 30 minutes and it finally had all the default packages, still running extremely slow, was able to make a coffee waiting for the storage manager to load after clicking on it

Anyway 5 hours later I'm still waiting for it to finish starting up the default services so I can do a hyper backup restore and it's soul destroying

Can we please get the 8 bay units in Australia, the NASs are so cool but all my crap won't fit on the 4 bay

I currently have a 100ish TB TrueNAS server and have been looking to move to a new system due to some slight aggravations with ZFS, I just got one of the NASync DH2300 for a mate for his birthday and helped him set it up, the OS is just so simple and with docker being on the DXP Units I think it will fit my bulk storage needs far better then Synology's offerings

I wanted to pick one up when they first launched but sadly they still aren't here

Update: you can get them in Australia through Alibaba so have ordered on and its on the way!

Does anyone know how to set different ethernet ports for different apps in TrueNAS 25.10.3.1 - Goldeye

I have a dual port 10GB Nic on my system, I have one port that all data goes through a VPN (managed through my UDM) and one that is routed normally that i want to runs plex, Jellyfin and game servers on because i need there ports forwarded in the router. is there a way to make the apps use a specific interface or can it only be in one?

Might be going crazy, but wanted to check

This is for the DS925+, I swear it use to say it only supported the official synology drives for use in the NVME Bays, can anyone confirm is 3rd parties work for SSD Caching again?

Seeking clarity on the 13 Pro top cover and general thoughts

Hi everyone, i've been thinking about the new 13 Pro as we get closer to the shipping date for the first set of units and had some questions that I couldn't find answers for / didn't feel like it was clearly defined

I managed to get an early order, but I was rather disappointed that there wasn't an option for the silver chassis out the gate and have been debating on if i'm going to cancel and wait for the silver to come out, as I already have a 13. My previous experiences with black laptops is they aesthetically wear quicker then silver devices and tend to show scratches and dings more prominently. its not a purchase killer but i have noticed my families surface laptops show lots of scratching around the ports that you just can't see on a silver chassis but really show on blacks and greys

Does anyone know if there is a timeframe for when the silver upgrade kits are going to become available?

Also is the top cover any different from the current one? they talked a lot about the base in the announcement video but i am unsure of the difference in the 2 top covers, they already have the ability to register interest in just a bottom upgrade kit, but I don't want to pick up only the bottom if the top won't match interims of quality and build

Just want to know if anyone has info regarding this? and what peoples thoughts are on the graphite colour being the only one available at the moment
