Make a character broken #17 : Ice Climbers

What would you change with the Ice Climbers (or how would you rework them) in order to make them super broken and/or closer to their source material?

I didn't play their game, so my proposition might not be as fleshed out.

Here is what I would change :

If the main Ice Climber (Popo) gets ejected and the other (Nana) is still alive, the player now takes control of Nana. Meaning both Climbers have to be defeated in order to take a stock instead of just the main one.

If one of the Climbers gets defeated, the remaining one get's a boost to avenge her fallen sister/brother, now dealing 50% more DMG & knockback and a 25% agility boost.

NeutralB : Ice Shot || The stalagmites now always freezes the opponent no matter their percentage (normally, it only freezes them at extremely high percentage), it grows bigger as it travels instead of shrinking, and it can no longer be reflected by hitting once it reaches King Dedede's Gordo's size and bigger.

UpB : Belay || If Popo uses his UpB and Nana is away from him, it teleports her to his side to perform the UpB, no matter the distance. If Nana's KO, Popo instead throws a grappling hook diagonally up that acts like Joker's.

Make a character broke #16 : Bowser

What would you change with Bowser (or how would you rework him) in order to make him stronger/super broken and/or closer to his source material?

Here is what I would change :

Bowser's Nair is now a proper multi-hit.

NeutralB : Fire Breath || Bowser's fire now no longer shrinks/weakens with time, is larger and stronger.

SideB : Flying Slam || Bowser now lunges forward to grab the opponent instead of a normal grab.

UpB : Whirling Fortress || In the air, Bowser now travels higher and farther horizontally.

Make a character broken #15 : Daisy

What would you change with Daisy (or how would you rework her) in order to make her stronger/super broken, closer to her source material, and different from Peach?

Honestly, guys, I don't have much ideas for Daisy unfortunately. But I'll do my best.

Here is what I would change :

SideB : Daisy Explosion || Daisy plants a vampiric flower on top of the opponent's head upon impact. The flower deals constant damage to the enemy and heals Daisy of the same amount.

DownB : Turnip || The chances of pulling out a strong turnip is increased. Additionally, Daisy can now choose to eat the turnip to heal herself. The heal provided is equal to the turnip's DMG. For example, a smiley turnip deals ~10% DMG in 1v1 battles. If Daisy chooses to eat it, it heals her of 10% DMG.

Make a character broken #14 : Peach

What would you change with Peach (or how would you rework her) in order to make her better/broken, closer to her source material and/or make her a completely unique character (different from Daisy)?

I didn't play the newest Peach game "Princess Peach : Showtime!", but I think it would be interesting to introduce elements from this game (or other games also) as a gimmick. 🤔

Here is what I would change :

NeutralB : Toad || Peach summons Toad to guard her. Toad will remain by Peach's side to counter the next attack/projectile aimed at her. Lasts for 15 seconds if no attack is countered and has a cooldown of 15 seconds. During all the time Toad guards her, Peach can move and act freely. It's like a constant counter.

SideB : Peach Explosion || Peach now flies forward for as long as the Special button is pressed.

DownB : Turnip || Peach now has more chance to pull out a Stitch-faced turnip, Bob-omb or Mr. Saturn.

Make a character broken #13 : Jigglypuff

What would you change with Jigglypuff (or how would you rework her) in order to make her super broken and/or closer to her source material?

Here is what I would change :

Puff gains infinite jumps & Kirby's jump height while keeping her aerial maneuverability.

NeutralB : Confusion || Puff's original NeutralB "Roll" is now replaced with "Confusion". It's basically a new version of Mewtwo's DownB "Disable", but instead of stunning, it reverses the opponent's controls for 5 seconds. It also comes out frame 3.

SideB : Pound || It now destroys shields more easily.

UpB : Lullaby || The sleeping hitbox around Puff is larger & constant, instead of 3 pulses.

DownB : Rest || Puff's most dangerous move is now even more dangerous. The hitbox's window is now larger & 4 frames longer, kills much sooner. Also, when Puff wakes up, she heals 30% DMG.

Make a character broken #12 : Captain Falcon

What would you change with Captain Falcon (or how would you rework him) in order to make him super broken and/or closer to his source material?

Here is what I would change :

The sweetspot's window of CF's Fair, the electrical knee, is now 2-3 frames longer, making it easier to land. It's also stronger & kills much sooner.

NeutralB : Falcon Punch || CF's most iconic move now takes half its original time to launch, making it easier to land.

SideB : Raptor Boost || Raptor Boost travels farther and no longer put in free fall, making it easier for CF to recover.

DownB : Falcon Kick || Falcon Kick now spikes in the air at the beginning of the attack (like Ganondorf).

Make a character broken #11 : Ness

What would you change with Ness (or how would you rework him) in order to make him super broken and/or closer to his source material?

I didn't play Earthbound, so my propositions might not be as fleshed out.

Here is what I would change :

Ness's FSmash, the bat, now has the same effect as the Bat item, instantly ejecting the opponents hit.

NeutralB : PSY Flash || PSY Flash is always at full charge. Holding the button simply serves to change the trajectory.

SideB : PSY Fire || Of course, to make this move even more infuriating and OP, *PSY Fire is now impossible to mash out off* 😈

UpB : PSY Thunder || You no longer have to redirect the thunder ball on Ness to launch him. Simple tapping makes the move act like normal. Double-tapping immediately launches Ness in the pointed direction in a thunderball.

Make a character broken #10 : Luigi

What would you change with Luigi and how would you rework him in order to make him super broken and/or closer to his source material?

I know guys that he's already cracked, but we want him either even stronger or have more moves inspired by his games. I know you guys can do it 😉

Here is what I would change :

Leave his aerials & tilts untouched. He needs them for his combos.

SideB : Green Missile || Luigi can now misfire whenever he wants by double-tapping the button. Additionally, Luigi now always gets stuck into the walls (it's no longer RNG).

UpB : Super Jump Punch || The sweetspot's window 2 frames wider and hitting it now ignores shields (like Little Mac's KO Punch).

DownB : Luigi Cyclone || Changes Luigi's tornado for Dr. Mario's. Same physic, DMG & killpower, but with a slightly wider hitbox.

When fighting against a Mario OR with a Mario in his team, if the latter triggers his DownB "? Bloc" and gets an item, Luigi also gets this power-up and its effect. (Go check my past post about Mario for context)

When fighting with a Daisy in his team, Luigi's desire to protect his princess will inspire him to face the enemy, increasing his attacks' DMG by 50% & granting him a 15% DMG reduction.

Make a character broken #9 : Pikachu

What would you change with Pikachu (or how would you rework him) in order to make him super broken and/or closer to his source material? Don't hesitate to change his attacks for other Pokemon abilities. The more the merrier 😉

Here is what I would change :

Pikachu's UpSmash becomes "Iron Tail". His tail coats itself with iron, granting a super armor on his tail.

NeutralB : Bouncing Lightning || Pikachu's lightnings no longer disappears with time, remaining on the field until touching an opponent or going out of bounds. Up to a maximum of 4 lightnings can be present at a time. If Pikachu creates a new one, the oldest one will disappear.

SideB : Headbutt || Changes its charge. Tap for a minimum charge. Double tap for a full charge.

UpB : Quick Attack || Pikachu can now aim twice in the same direction (ex.: Up-Up) instead of having to change direction (ex.: Up-Right)

DownB : Thunder || The thunder now spikes all the way, dragging the opponent in its fall (acting the same as Mii Brawler's DownB "Head-On Assault")

Make a character broken #8 : Fox McCloud

What would you change with Fox in order to make him super broken and/or closer to his source material?

I unfortunately didn't play any Star Fox game, so my upgrades might not be as fleshed out as yours. So I'm counting on you guys to compensate for my lack of knowledge with your creativity! 😉

Here is what I would change :

NeutralB : Laser Pistol || Fox's laser beams now makes the enemies flinch like Falco's, and keeps Fox's fire rate.

SideB : Illusion || Comes out frame 3, has 3 frames of endlag, and can be chained up to 3 times consecutively. Also phases through shields (not hitting through them tho).

UpB : Fox Rocket || Fox's UpB is now a multi-hit like Falco's while keeping its travel distance.

Make a character broken #7 : Kirby

What would you change with our favorite pink ball of joy Kirby in order to make him super broken and/or closer to his source material?

Here is what I would change :

Kirby now has infinite jumps, making him a menace in the air.

NeutralB : Swallow

Comes out frame 3 and can swallow projectiles, no matter their strength (including Samus's Charge Shot, Robin's Thoron, etc), and shoot them back whenever he wants by pressing the button again. Works similarly to Villager's and Isabelle's Pocket (and my remastered Yoshi's NeutralB & Grab).

Also, when Kirby copies a character, it also copies their Specials (Neutral, Side, Up & Down), not only their NeutralB.

DownB : Stone

Kirby now spikes the opponents in the air & buries those on the ground. And reduces significantly the endlag after coming out of the rock form.

Make a character broken #6 : Yoshi

What would you change with Yoshi in order to make him broken (on the scale of SSBU Steve & Brawl Meta Knight)?

Yet again, I didn't play his games, so my suggestions won't be as fleshed out.

Here is what I would change :

Yoshi's Grab and NeutralB (which both uses the tongue) can now swallow projectiles and keep them in his mouth to throw them back the next time he presses the Special button (like Villager's and Isabelle's NeutralB).

UpB : Egg Throw

Yoshi throws more powerful eggs, and faster, he bounces higher when launching them in the air, and he can bounce all the time (not only on his 1st throw after a jump. Now, he can always come back and stall in the air indefinitely.

DownB : Yoshi Bomb

Yoshi now spikes in the early half of the attack.

Make a character broken #5 : Dark Samus l

What would you change with Dark Samus in order to make her broken (on the scale of SSBU Steve & Brawl Meta Knight) and/or different from Samus?

Like with Samus, I unfortunately didn't play Metroid, so I don't have much ideas. But you all had many great ideas with Samus in my previous post, so I'm certain you guys can find great suggestions to make Dark Samus unique.

Here is what I would change :

Dark Samus is constantly floating, making her immune to ground-based effect such as the POW Bloc, DK's DownB on the ground, the shockwave caused by Byleth's Aymr, etc.

Dark Samus's attacks that uses blue electric flames paralyzes the opponents for ½ second before ejecting them, and 1.5 seconds for her charge shots, missiles & bombs.

DownB : Bomb

Dark Samus's bombs leave an electric trail that stays at the explosion's site for 5 seconds, hurting the opponents who crosses it and paralyzing them for ½ second. Holding the button creates a bigger bomb.

These are unfortunately all the ideas I could come up with that could make Dark Samus different from Samus.

Make a character broken #4 : Samus

What would you change with Samus in order to make her broken (on the scale of SSBU Steve & Brawl Meta Knight)? Or also just make her different from Dark Samus.

Honestly, I didn't play Metroid games at all, so I don't have the knowledge of the games to make her interesting 😔. I will try my best, but I'm afraid it won't be as detailed as my previous ones. Here is what I would change :

Changes her FSmash with Mii Gunner's

NeutralB : Charge Shot

Changes her Charge Shot. Press the button once and it shoots a small shot. Press twice consecutively and it shoots a fully charged shot.

SideB : Missile

The Homing Missiles are faster and stronger & her Super Missiles makes a bigger explosion.

UpB : Spin Attack

Makes her UpB go higher and increases its knockback.

DownB : Bomb

Makes Samus bounce higher when hit by the bombs.

Make a character broken #3 : Link

After Mario and Donkey Kong obviously comes the iconic swordie, Link. What would you change with Link in order to make him broken (on the scale of SSBU Steve & Brawl Meta Knight)? Or also just make him different and stronger than his variants.

Here is what I would change :

At 0% DMG, every and all attacks that uses the sword now shoots a blade of light forward (not only his FSmash).

NeutralB : Bow

Acts like Link's original Bow, but if used in the air, Link enters Bullet Time, considerably slowing everyone down except for his arrows, which flies at normal speed even if the time is slowed down.

SideB : Bomb

Basically his DownB.

DownB : Prodigies' Blessings

Link summons one of the 4 Sages' spirit to bless him in battle. It lasts for 15 seconds, has a 15-seconds cooldown and cannot be switched to another blessing until the previous one runs out. The blessing is chosen randomly between 4 Sages :

- Mipha : Mipha constantly heals Link of 5% per second.

- Daruk : Daruk protects Link with an unbreakable shield. The shield will knock back the opponents who attacks Link at close range.

- Revali : Revali assists Link when he needs a little push. It changes Link's UpB for Hero's "Kaswoosh".

- Urbosa : Urbosa aids Link in battle by granting him the power of thunder. It unleash thunderstrikes (same as Pikachu's) around Link when he does a Smash attack. The number of thunderstrikes increases when fully charged.

Make a character broken #2 : Donkey Kong

My last post was really popular and people jumped in the fun. Let's continue like this! I'm curious on how creative you guys can be! 🙌

What would you change or rework with Donkey Kong in order to make him super broken?

Here is what I would change :

SideB : Kong Barrel

DK throws a barrel in front of him, similarly to how he throws the DK barrel in Donkey Kong Country Return. When the barrel explodes, it frees Diddy Kong, who lashes onto DK's back. This allows DK to float in the air (thanks to Diddy's Barrel Jetpack) for 2 seconds. Lasts until DK gets 30% DMG or loses a stock, and has a 20-seconds cooldown before Diddy Kong can respawn.

DK can still throw barrels while Diddy Kong is on his back or while Diddy Kong is on cooldown. It just won't summon Diddy Kong.

Down Cargo Throw : Barrel

DK traps the opponent he carries in a barrel and rolls it forward. The barrel can damage opponents it hits. The more damage the trapped target has, the longer it stays trapped.

Make a character broken #1 : Mario

What would you change with Mario in order to make him broken (on the scale of SSBU Steve & Brawl Meta Knight)? Here is what I would change :

NeutralB : ? Block

Mario punches a ? Block and get a power-up that will last for 15 seconds, cannot be canceled (which means you cannot change power-ups before it runs out), and has a 5-seconds cooldown after the power-up runs out. The power-up changes some of Mario's Specials and is chosen randomly among the following :

  • Boomerang Flower : Grants Mario the ability to equip the Boomerang object in his hands with his NeutralB. The Boomerang cannot be stolen or used by anyone except Mario. His SideB does nothing.
  • Cape Feather : Equips Mario of his cape. It changes his NeutralB to a spinning cape slap, his SideB to Mario's original SideB "Cape", and his UpB for his Cape Glide (It acts the same as Steve's Elytra).
  • Double Cherry : Summons a clone of Mario. It allows Mario to have a double that acts the same as the Ice Climbers.
  • Fire Flower : Grants Mario the power of fire. Changes his NeutralB with his original one "Fireball", and adds an explosion at the end of his UpB. His SideB does nothing.
  • Ice Flower : Grants Mario the power of ice. Changes his NeutralB for an ice ball that instantly freezes anyone that enters in contact with it, and adds an ice explosion at the end of his UpB. His SideB does nothing.
  • Mega Mushroom : Mario becomes a giant for 15 seconds instead of the usual 10 seconds.
  • Mini Mushroom : Mario becomes tiny for 15 seconds instead of the usual 10 seconds.
  • Statue Leaf : Grants Mario the Statue Tanooki Suit. It allows Mario to glide in the air by holding the jump button (like the object). It also changes his NeutralB with a spinning tail slap, and his DownB with his Statue Drop, turning into a stone statue before dropping down and hitting everyone in his path. It acts the same as Kirby's DownB "Stone". His SideB does nothing.
  • Lucky Bell : Turns Mario into a Lucky Cat. It allows him to climb on walls for 3 seconds before sliding down. It also changes his NeutralB with a vertical claw slap, his SideB with a slide forward, claw in front (in the air, it goes down diagonally), and his DownB with his Golden Statue Drop. It acts the same as the Statue Leaf.
  • Super Star : There's a very small chance Mario gets a Super Star, becoming invincible for 15 seconds instead of the usual 10 seconds.

SideB : Cappy Throw

Mario throws Cappy forward to hit the opponents. Can be angled upwards to throw Cappy up vertically, or angle downwards to throw Cappy sliding on the ground or the ledge. Hold the Special button to make Cappy float in place and damage the opponents who enters in contact with him. If Mario lands on Cappy, it makes him do a Cap Bounce The Cap Bounce resets his Air Dodge, but not his 2nd jump. It can only be performed once in the air and Mario has to land in order to reset it. Can change if Mario has a power-up active.

UpB : Super Jumped Fist

Mario keeps his original UpB.

DownB : Ground Pound

On the ground, Mario jumps in the air before performing a Ground Pound. In the air, immediately performs the Ground Pound. Acts the same as Yoshi's DownB "Bomb". Can change if Mario has a power-up active.

I had to rework him instead of just changing 1 thing, because it wouldn't fit with what I had in mind.
