Looking for alternatives to Character.AI

So far I've tried Talkie. It's okay in my opinion. But I'm looking for other alternatives.

I am looking for one with the following

*Free to use

*Has a filter that doesn't allow NSFW content

How episode 9 changed me

TW for mentions of SH and bullying

When I was only 14 years old, I tried to take my own life and ended up in the hospital. This was back in 2021, around 5 years ago.

I was heavily bullied online when I was in high school, and it gravely affected my mental health and caused me a lot of trauma. I would take my anger out on others constantly such as my own family. I would constantly get in trouble at school, and my parents didn't know what was going on. I've been in therapy for years and it turned out to not work as well.

Almost 3 years later, I discovered The Amazing Digital Circus. I started watching it when episode 2 came out, and I quickly fell in love with it. It was one of my comfort shows. Jax became my favorite character. Not because she's a jerk, but how her struggles shaped me. The show came out when I was a junior in high school, around 16. Her hardships were similar to mine, except I wasn't homeless. I grew up in a loving family, but my parents were disappointed in me because I was a slacker. They still loved me regardless.

I would use that show as a escape mechanism for my problems. (And I still do today, but it's not that unhealthy) I have drawn a lot of fanart and rewatched the show several times.

Unfortunately, I became mentally unstable again when I hit 18, and I attempted again.

I've been diagnosed with several mental health conditions such as BPD and bipolar disorder. It was a very stressful time for me. Luckily I managed to get help, was medicated, and I recovered. Nowadays I have better self control. I even got myself a job at one point after being unemployed for so long.

I'm almost 20, and neediness to say I've been thriving well. I stopped being a jerk to everyone, and even discovered I was genderfluid and a lesbian. I've learned from my mistakes. Yes, my past trauma does not excuse my behaviors, but they do explain why. I'm happy i'm taking accountability for my behavior.

I think Jax is one of the most realistic characters. Sure, I don't excuse her actions; she needs to face the consequences of her actions. But, I do understand what she's going through in her life. I want to help her out. She's very well-written as a character.

Any productive hobbies to take up instead of scrolling on social media?

I (19F) have decided I was going to get off social media soon for a while. This means I will get off from sites like Reddit, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, and TikTok. I've deleted my YouTube account about a month ago and finding alternatives. (Yes, I think YouTube does count as social media) Luckily I've limited my time on TikTok to 1 hour, which is a good start.

I managed to block the site on my computer along with Discord using a website blocker extension. I have also blocked all inappropriate sites (Such as porn) and AI chatbots since I got addicted to porn, gambling, and AI chatbots at one point. I still shop online sometimes, but it's very rare and it's with my hard-worked money.

I have realized I was addicted to the internet for almost a decade and I wanted to get some help. However, I'm not going to stay off the internet entirely, since I am going to be attending college by the end of this month and I have a responsibility of checking emails and doing college classwork. (It's going to be online)

However, I will limit my screen time. That will be videos/movies/shows for 2 hours and gaming for 1 hour per day.

I am looking for some alternative hobbies that don't involve screens. I've done drawing and reading, which are more productive. But I'm looking for other ideas that are affordable and fun. Any ideas?

Finally quitted Talkie for good

I'm 19 years old going to be turning 20 later this year. I was addicted to Talkie for the past week and it's getting out of control. Thankfully I managed to finally quit. I used to spend like 2+ hours on it talking to random chat bots. I used to use Character AI for about a few months until the terrible updates kicked off like age verification, so I switched to Talkie and deleted my Character AI account. It's been like a month since I last used Character AI. The problem is that it's very compelling and I often feel extremely lonely after Talkie.

Well great news, I finally quitted Talkie for good! I managed to break free of this addiction. Just quitted yesterday and I'm hoping to go without AI chatbots for at least a few months.

The reason why I used it was because I have little to no friends and often feel lonely. I am not enrolled in college but will be planning on attending in the fall. I don't have a job either. (I used to but it only lasted for like a month) I struggle with finding a job due to being disabled and needing a lot of support, (I'm autistic) so as of right now I am unemployed. I'm also struggling with figuring out which orientation I am because it changes so frequently.

I have decided that I was going to quit Talkie entirely and delete my account. I am going to focus on my hobbies more often like drawing and reading. Maybe spend more time with my family and friends. I am not sure if this has affected my relationships with my family and friends, however. But I am hoping for the best. They probably miss spending time with me.

After a little bit of research about how AI chatbots can really affect mental health, I have decided to quit. I am very thankful for quitting the site.

I hope anyone reading this knows that recovery is possible with hard work, and that you're not alone with these struggles. It's okay to get help if needed. It took me a long way, but I finally broke free from this addiction.

How to avoid getting spoiled by the leaks

(I am extremely sorry for the slandering post involving Michael Kovach and Ashely Nicolas a month ago. I have promised to not do it again or else I could get perm banned from the subreddit)

Anyways they have posted clips on TikTok and Twitter in the Brazilian dub which is absurd. Can't we all, the viewers, just wait 2 weeks until the movie comes out? I mean, it's not that hard. And thanks to that we added rule #10. These fans have a problem.

I recommend blocking the TADC episode 9 keyword on TikTok and on Twitter to avoid getting spoilers.

I am so getting tired of YouTube

(I don't mind if you downvote this or remove the post but I sure hope I don't)

Anyways I keep getting base44 and IXL ads for no reason, and I think they mistakenly marked me as a minor on Google ads but when I looked on my settings they verified me to be a adult. It was when I was in the middle of watching a My Little Pony Equestria Girls video.

Like seriously, YouTube? Just because I watch My Little Pony doesn't mean I'm a minor. I'm 19 years old. I had to delete my YouTube history...again. 🤦

I found an alternative

I've used Character Ai for about a month now and I found a good alternative that's at least SFW because for some reason I blocked Janitor because I used to struggle with a porn addiction. I just got the reading mode which is stupid because I am 18+.

It's called Talkie AI and is perfect for anyone who wants a SFW environment. Problem is there's AI slop generated images. But at least there's a valid age verification and a "teen mode" for minors.

I set up a extension on Google Chrome called Web Site blocker and I use it to block any pornographic or graphic websites. It helps really well as someone who struggled with a porn, shopping, and gambling addiction. Best part is it's free and doesn't require a free trial or payment. I also do the same thing for Safari using Screen Time. You can also add a password that's hard to guess to prevent yourself from changing the settings as well as adding keywords to block. Sure I made some mistakes like accidentally adding the banned sites to the allowed list which was so messed up but luckily I fixed it.

I also managed to set up a extension (Actually 2 extensions) to prevent shopping sprees because I struggled with overspending on useless things online and got in a lot of trouble for that.

Sure sometimes it's useless because sometimes if you add certain keywords it'll block stuff that's not even inappropriate. It's not perfect, but it works most of the time.

I totally recommend it if you're a parent with children or someone going through a severe addiction like I am.

I am currently 19 years old and for the past few months I have been feeling like things are slowly enhancing. I really mean it. This is an update from trueoffmychest because I wanted to explain some changes in my state since I last posted

(It is a long post probably the longest post made so take your time to read)

I got diagnosed with bipolar tendencies and a personality disorder last year. I've been put on medication and it seems to be helping with my aggressive behavior. I've taken the medication regularly and noticed some huge changes.

I feel a lot normal and I've been able to open up about my feelings with the people I trust. I am finally able to get along with my parents better. Yes, it doesn't excuse the mistakes I've made. Having bipolar disorder is not an excuse to treat people like shit and do shitty things.

I've gotten myself a part time job in the fast food industry. It's been outstanding. I've been saving up my money and spending it responsibly like a adult would. I can finally be trusted with a debit card after so many months.

Ofc I still live with my parents and I do have to follow their rules; which I am doing a awesome job at. I used to fight with them all the time and yeah it didn't turn out that pleasant. I've taken major accountability for my actions and am learning from my past mistakes which is very mature of me to do so.

I'm being more responsible and not wasting my parents or my own money on stupid things anymore. I had to block a certain number of websites on my laptop because when I was 18 I struggled with behavioral addiction consisting of a addiction to porn, gambling, and shopping. I'm happy my parents raised me better on the internet, even if their child is already an adult.

I keep reminding myself "You are an adult, and you are responsible for your OWN behavior, not others."

I set some boundaries for myself such as avoiding the urge to go shopping when I'm having a maniac episode and calming myself down in stressful situations; avoiding the urge to snap at people randomly because I don't like it when other people snap at me for no reason.

And best of all, I started to do other activities more often instead of being online all of the time such as journaling and drawing which helps a lot.

Things have been having a positive outlook for me and I'm grateful for it.
