Post your best catch from the last game week (Mon - Sun)! Here's mine...

Last week I was on GGEX, after chickening out from a first time on CBEX. Even though we were "more likely to encounter Hawlucha at Cyan Beach (Expert)" than elsewhere, I wasn't looking too hard to catch one anyways.

I only saw two the whole week on GGEX - and managed to catch the first one, which I was lucky to find hungry. And it turned out ok - double trigger with neutral nature - decent enough for me to consider it one and done, given my relative lack of interest.

But then, after Sunday's sleep session...

Weeks without a keeper: 0!

Shiny Shuckle: STS, HB, HSS -> HSM, and STM, but with speed down nature. On my RaenonX, this thing is expected to do 4.55 triggers / day (4.81 if minted). At 70 that goes to 5.82 (6.16 minted). And this isn't counting the Berry Juice, over 4+ every 5 days for the unminted one at level 50.

So, does it count? Let me know what you think.

And I hope you found your keepers last week too. Post your best and tell us the story behind it! XD

(Remember, this is for the last week in game - Monday through Sunday's sleep sessions!)

Post your best catch from the last game week (Mon - Sun)! Here's mine...

I stayed on Taupe last week, still hoping for an upgrade to my Pooper. Didn't see much worth throwing biscuits at throughout the week, though. I did end up catching this Arcanine, just to have caught one...

Weeks without a keeper: 3?

Now, it's actually a pretty decent Arcanine, all things considered. BFS, upgradeable HSS, and skill up nature. But I've already got an even better one at 50+. So, I won't turn this one into candy, but I won't be investing in it either. So does that count as a keeper? I don't think it counts. Let me know what you think.

Hope you did better than me last week. Post your best and tell us the story behind it! XD

Community feedback on moderation - how are we doing?

Hey sleepers!

We are wrapping up our first week since implementing the changes based on the feedback we've gathered in the previous month or so. This is a quick check point to ask how you're liking the changes thus far.

To recap, here are the changes we made based on your input:

  • We split the catch all megathread into two: one for Rate My Mon (RMM) requests and the other for Shiny and Brag posts.
  • We now have the megathreads in place for the entire week, instead of just during the weekdays.
  • We allow Memes to be posted freely again on the sub.

There are a couple of related additional changes:

  • The Friend Code Megathread will now be posted weekly instead of monthly. We think this will help keep it fresh, and it allows us to more easily automate some things behind the scenes.
  • We will no longer have a separate New Pokemon Megathread.
    • RMM and shiny posts for the new Pokemon should go into the respective weekly megathreads.
    • The Index and FAQ for the new Pokemon will be added to the RMM Megathread.
    • Deep dives and infographics for the new Pokemon will no longer be automodded.

Please let us know how you think it's going. As always, your constructive feedback is much appreciated. Thank you!

Recommendations for dog opthalmologist in Makati?

My parents have a Yorkie that developed a white spot on its eye. We took it to our normal vet about 2.5 weeks ago. They put dye in its eye and determined it's a superficial wound - eye drops and cone.

First they said it should clear up in 5 days. Went back, three more days. Went back again, five more days. We're due to go back, but the spot doesn't seem to have gotten any smaller. So I suspect they'll just say to keep the cone and prescribing more eye drops.

So, I think we need to see an eye specialist. But I dont know how to find one. Any recommendations please?

Community feedback on moderation - poll results and moving forward

Hey sleepers!

Thanks to all of you who voted on our community feedback poll. In this thread, we'll discuss how moderation will change moving forward based on the results of the poll.

We will now have two weekly megathreads, one for Rate My Mon (RMM) requests and one for Shiny and Brag posts.

Two very clear preferences were highlighted in the first poll question. First, people decisively wanted RMM separate from Shiny and Brag posts. Almost 69% of people's first choice were to have them separate. Second, people overwhelmingly wanted Shiny and Brag posts contained in a megathread (over 90% of people's first choice).

Interestingly, people clearly wanted a change from the current weekly single combined megathread for RMM, Shiny, and Brag posts. Only about one in five people had that as their first choice.

The megathread rules will now run for the entire week, instead of just during the weekdays.

There was a 60/40 split between people wanting the megathreads running all week and those wanting free posting on weekends. A twenty point spread in elections is considered a decisive choice.

This may be the biggest adjustment to long-time community members who have gotten used to the weekday / weekend rhythm. But I think this was the most confusing part of the moderation cycle, and that one consistent rule will be much easier to understand and moderate.

Meme posts will be allowed freely on the sub and not be treated like Shiny and Brag posts.

Over 83% of you did not want Memes grouped with Shiny and Brag posts - that's considered a landslide. My concern with this has been that it requires moderators to make judgment calls on what is considered a meme. We plan to provide examples so there's less ambiguity on moderation decisions for them.

These changes will go into effect this weekend.

We still plan to run the weekly "Where are you going next week?" polls on Fridays. Starting this week, though, they just won't be considered the start of free posting, as the megathread rules will stay on.

Then on Monday, we will post the megathreads - one for RMM and one for Shiny and Brag posts. And so on, and so on...

If you've made it this far, thanks for reading all the way through. We'll ask for your patience with any hiccups that come up during this transition. And of course, your constructive feedback is always welcome.

What did Munchlax pick up after one week?

I took back my Toxicroak at the 7-day mark, fed him the candy, and then sent him right back to nap with Munchlax for another week. XD

Thirty more days to spend a hoarded Mint

I planted my white flower last night but fell asleep without using one of my two hoarded mints (doh) or switching to my night team (bigger DOH)...

Was a little worried when I realized that this morning, but the game did cover this situation.

Nap Island with Munchlax - things to know

I'm in Asia for a few weeks so I got to unlock Munchlax's island a bit earlier than I normally would have. Here's some things to know:

  • It didn't appear for me right at 10am - I had to leave the island view (I opened the Pokemon box), and when I came back, I got the pop up window.
  • You can back out of the tutorial before selecting a Pokemon to stay there.
  • Once you've picked, you're locked in.
  • The tutorial forces you to use your free boost.
  • The Pokemon you picked will have an indicator in your Pokebox - you will not be able to do things with it in the box like leveling it.

This means your pick for this week will get the bonus +350 XP per day from the nap island boost, but will not be able to use the mini candy boost, except for the first day, if you use it before putting it with Munchlax.

When I first put my Pokemon there, both it and Munchie were sleeping. Every subsequent time I went back they were awake, and I hate thinking I disturbed their nap (but I don't think there's any in game impact). Both react to touches.

Enjoy!

Community feedback on moderation - time to vote!

Hey Sleepers!

Thanks to all of you who shared your thoughts on our initial request for feedback on moderation in r/PokemonSleep and the follow-up discussion.

Based on the feedback from those discussions, we've put together a poll to gather preferences on some of the possible changes. There are three questions:

First is a ranked-choice vote on different proposals for organizing megathreads. It was clear from our discussions that there was very little desire for Rate My Mon (RMM) posts outside of megathreads, but several changes were still proposed. For example, would you prefer daily megathreads instead of the current weekly thread? Should Shiny and Brag posts be separated from RMM? Should they have their own megathread or be free to post on the main subreddit?

Ranked choice means you rank the options from your most preferred to your least preferred. If your top choice is eliminated, your vote transfers to your next-ranked choice. This lets you honestly rank the options without worrying about wasting your vote and helps identify the option with the broadest community support.

Second is a simple choice about the current weekday/weekend rules. Do you want to keep weekends where all posts are allowed on the main subreddit, or would you prefer megathread rules to apply all week?

Third is a simple choice about Meme posts. Should they follow the same rules as Shiny and Brag posts?

Vote here: https://www.rcv123.org/ballot/J49wVQw9gp5xjj7ph95wcQ48

Note: Voting will close when the Pokemon Sleep Anniversary event ends.

Please use this thread to discuss the options, explain why you support them, and share any additional feedback. As a reminder, please keep feedback focused on rules, policies, and how they affect the community, rather than about individual moderators.

Thank you for your participation!

Post your best catch from the last game week (Mon - Sun)! Here's mine...

Yup, it's Snorlax again...

Weeks without a keeper: 9 :(

Nine weeks. It's getting to the point where I'm considering sacrificing a shiny Mareep to RNGesus. XD

I was on GGEX to cap my Area Bonus there. And I didn't get a lot of shots - I think all but one morning I was just throwing my bonus biscuit. I did get two more opportunities at Bulbasaur. Honey Bulba still eludes me, although the misses here were less painful since I lucked into a mono Cutiefly before my dry spell began. That seems so long ago. XD

I hope you guys had better luck than me! Post your best and tell us the story behind it!

(Remember, this is for the last week in game - Monday through Sunday's sleep sessions!)
