They can read?

While going to get lunch - saw a parent and a juvenile - sitting on the sign for a 'parent & child parking space'

Funny coincidence, or can they read (given that they are pretty smart).

The beginning of a tradition?

Last year, i found a juvenile jackdaw stuck in a table in my backyard.
Just now, another one in the shed, hiding behind a ladder.

Different to last year, now I had my phone (and therefore camera) on me.
Grabbed gloves, and carefully removed the little guy (?) from the shed, and placed him in our lilac tree (first picture).

Which did not go easy, as this one was not stunned, and actually tried to bite me.
A little later he was still in the tree, so stuck my gloved hand carefully to him - he hopped on, and i left him on the fence (2nd pic). Cue loud screaming from an adult jackdaw (parent?) so guess this one is safe now. I did speak up against the parent for the neglect, and to stop screaming at me (which got ignored of course) - Parent now flying around and juvenile hopped to the green fence (also shown in the pic #2) so i`m guessing they`ll be okay.

They are getting more and more comfortable here .. and recently their 'tree' got some added crows too (they are at least 5x as loud as the jackdaws).
