There is Toby Fox, the God and then there is the mortal Toby Fox, the human.

The human mortal exists only to contain the God, the first creator, a cage with human parts and soul.

Maybe its like a "Hulk" situation where The God comes out and the Human is restrained as they create these dark, yet darker wonderful things indeed and then when it is all done.

The God recedes control to The Mortal to sleep again another day, but idk lol

I heard some criticism that it has a identity crisis issue; but i was just wondering to see if it would be worth it just for the sandbox game alone; maybe people will make super big mods for it and it'll become a garry's mod 2 on its own.

edit: i'm not really interested in the creating part although thats cool; all i really want is a updated garry's mod in source 2 so i hope people make addons or mods for this game or such so it can live up to garry's mod.
