I started a subreddit for game devs and designers who want better planning tools. If you want to see how I'm building Aviquill and follow the features as they drop, come join.

Hey everyone! I'm relaunching Aviquill on Product Hunt today.

Aviquill is the visual planning tool I've been building for game designers and teams. It gives you a clean space to map out levels, quests, mechanics, systems, and story flow in one connected layout. I rebuilt a lot of the UI, added new planning modes, and made the whole workflow smoother for real game design projects.

The launch is live now.

How do you grow a small software tool when you don't have an existing audience?

I'm a solo founder building an app for a specific niche (game developers), and I'm stuck on the early‑stage growth part. I've been trying to get traction for weeks, but nothing has really moved.

I've already tried making content on TikTok, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Bluesky. Some posts get views, but none of it has translated into people actually trying the product or showing interest. I don't have a marketing budget, so I'm trying to figure out what realistic growth looks like when you're bootstrapping and doing everything yourself.

For those of you who've grown a small business from scratch, what helped you get your first real users? Did you focus on direct outreach, community involvement, partnerships, or something else entirely? I'm trying to understand what early traction looks like when social content alone isn't enough.

Any guidance from people who've been through this stage would help a lot.

[100x100]ISLAND SETTLEMENT PLUS ISLAND SECRET LAB MAP PACK

Hello everyone!

This is the Refugee Scientists' Island Settlement map pack I have been working on. It comes with a full multi-building island map, individual building breakdowns, night and stealth variants, Dungeondraft files if you want to customize it yourself, a full mission narrative with NPC sheets, VTT tokens, printable minis, and a bonus collab map pack from a day at.

The theme this time is an island settlement built by refugee scientists, guarded by a small security team. It works great for research conspiracy campaigns, post-apocalyptic or near-future sci-fi games, or any story involving infiltration, rescue missions, or a facility hiding something it shouldn't be.

You get the full settlement map plus every major building broken out on its own, in grid, gridless, and VTT-ready formats. There are night versions and a night-vision mode for stealth-focused sessions, plus blueprint-style files you can hand players as in-world documents. If you like building your own stuff, the Dungeondraft files and assets are included too.

Beyond the maps, there's a full mission narrative document, ready-to-run NPC character sheets, VTT tokens, and printable paper minis in four color variants. And as a bonus this month, every subscriber also gets a collab map pack from a day at, with eight additional maps that fit right into the same world or work as standalone locations.

To celebrate the 4th of July, I'm running a 50 percent off sale on subscriptions with the code 4JUL2026. It's limited time, so grab it while it's up.

I made a game design planner for messy dev brains like mine

Link to Itch page: https://saotekin.itch.io/aviquill-game-design-visualization-tool

I've just released Aviquill on itch.io. It's a visual game design space where you can map mechanics, quests, level flow, dialogue, and UI ideas without everything feeling scattered. I built it to make my own workflow less fragmented, and I'd love feedback from other devs who plan their projects visually.

If you try it out, let me know what parts of your workflow feel messy or disconnected. I'm actively improving the tool based on what game devs need.

Planning levels in text apps never made sense to me, so I started using a layout that lets me map things out while planning the game.

Quick look at the top infinite canvas note taking apps for game devs in 2026 and why spatial tools fit nonlinear design better than page based apps.

Should I merge note types so you can add checklists and other elements inside the same note, or should I keep a note‑type value that defines what kind of note you’re creating?

I know apps like Notion let you add checklists under paragraphs. I currently uses block types to switch between formats, but I’m not sure which direction to take.

Relaunched Aviquill on Product Hunt today — updated UX + smoother workflow

Hey everyone,
I just relaunched Aviquill on Product Hunt. It's a lightweight note‑taking app that blends linear writing with a visual canvas so you can expand ideas without switching tools.

Since the first launch, I rebuilt a lot of the UX, simplified the workflow, and added better support for mixed media on the canvas. The goal was to make the whole experience smoother and more intuitive.

If you want to check out the relaunch or share feedback, here's the link:

Appreciate anyone who takes a look.
