How bad is studying medicine going to be for me?

Im not sure if this is the right place for this questiom so sorry if its not but anyway..

So i of course know medicine is a lot of work and it should be but im also a humanities person. Im in-between medicine, psychology and law. If i picked medicine i wouldn't be able to do it if it was ALL biology and science. Is there any psychology involved in like caring for patients with trauma etc. Is there any discussions in classes, how much group work, how much nuance, etc. How much choice in electives and also projects/research if there is any? Like could a project be on endometriosis education in adolescents and how it could affect things- obviously worded differently and more exact and all but you know the vibes.

Would I survive in med school as someone who wants at least 30% discussion, ethic, psychology, etc? What colleges might be the best for this and what are your experiences? Tia 😊

Why does everyone have strong opinions on chemistry?

Im thinking of picking chemistry for the lc because if I want to do medicine its sorta necessary (I know a few courses don't need it but i don't want to limit myself for no real reason and if i don't get the points I might need it to go abroad). But anyway like online and here everyone seems to either love chemistry or hate it which makes me nervous because as of now I don't love it. Biology was my favourite science subject in JC. I liked the chemistry chapters on atoms and the periodic table because it was very logical and it was like woah it all makes so much sense but I had no interest in mixing chemicals and seeing how this reacts with that- maybe its because I didn't know the foundations? Or maybe its a sign I shouldnt do chemistry. Im willing to work a bit academically but not if I hate the subject so what reasons do people like the subject and what reasons do people hate it? Tia

Where can I find a good endometriosis specialist

So like the title says I'm wondering where I can find a good endometriosis specialist in Ireland. Doesnt matter where too much. Preferably an adolescent specific one but I doubt there's many/any in Ireland. Has abyone had any good experiences with any specific clinic/gynecologist/doctor?

Mood Symptoms

Hi so I dont have a diagnosis so I hope this is okay to post here but I was wondering if endometriosis has mood symptoms?

So I understand the physical side basically and obviously chronic pain, invalidation, waiting lists can all contribute to low mood. But I also heard the endometriosis is linked to high estrogen? And high estrogen cause low mood (and other physical symptoms) and worse pms.

I have a lot of the physical side of the symptoms (though thankfully the symptoms have lessened with mefenamic acid and a tens machine- really recommend!) Then ive also had a long while of PMDD like symptoms but its gotten kinda to the whole month with just worsening at the end which i heard could be PME. I was on SSRIs, well just one trialed (for 14 months)- fluoxetine. It didn't help at all. Had like no effect. My mood continued to get worse and there were multiple hospital admissions for my MH. I wont get into it too much. I tried the pill and it got rid of all my symptoms cause I took it continuously, my mood was really shitty at this point and on a downward trajectory so that didn't help. I got admitted again and most of the time I was on the pill was in hospital. It definitely got rid of the cyclical aspect but it also made my mood feel flat and less actually good aswell. And there were MANY incidents in the hospital so arguably not flat but idk if those would've happened outside the crisis and hospital triggers. I stopped taking the pill after like 85 days. It's been roughly 3 months since and cycles are back to normal. The pill was the combined one- Microlite. Recently coming back to this question about my mood though and what could be causing it?

TLDR: does endometriosis cause chemical changes in the brain/cause depression clinically, taking aside the pain and invalidation?

How do the reforms work?

I haven't been told much about the new LC reforms yet so how's it going to change things in the future and is anyone going through them yet? Are they bad or good or what do people think of them? Are some subjects suddenly harder now?

How bad would it be to not pick Chem if I want to do medicine?

I have time to decide and all since im only going into ty but how important is it to pick chemistry and another science if i want to do medicine? I don't like chemistry much and would prefer to do politics and society or history over it. I do like biology though and medicine is a serious consideration for now. Like I know not every course needs chemistry but how bad would it be not to pick it while knowing I might want to do medicine. (It's not a definite, might do psychology or even human rights law instead. I'd like medicine for the human facing side and helping people just as much as the science). Chemistry isn't a complete no but its kinda like id just rather do something else soooo... advice pls?

Psychology Or Medicine?

Idk if this is the right place for this question but basically im struggling with choosing between psychology and medicine. I still have some time to choose though (TY student) but like i should have a better idea before like April next year for subjects for 5th year cause I won't pick chem if I know i won't be doing medicine. Does anyone have any advice on how to decide more/explore options. Or even some good opportunities/things I could do to help me decide.

Anyone Else Have Super Long Cycles?

So like my cycle is long, maybe not THAT long. It's the end of normal though at like an average of 35 days. So that means that my luteal phase is even longer too. Not just a week but two weeks 😭 anyone else the same?

PMDD or just depression?

So as someone with lots of experience in and out of mental health offices, I learnt about the cycle of anxiety where basically the less you do things because your anxiety tells you not to, the more anxious you'll be next time so it just gets worse and worse and worse.

I wonder if my PMDD is like that and the cycle of depression where the less things u do cause ur depressed the more crap you feel because u didn't do anything so you're even more depressed.

What if its similar with PMDD, every month 2 weeks before my period my mood will get worse and I'll isolate more which will make my anxiety and depression worse in general and then when my period improves my mood gets better a bit but not fully because my behaviours changed and that lead to my mood staying kinda bad. Idk

Like most months my mood gets better after my period but not always and not by a lot BUT each month it does get worse before it so I feel like im now in a general trend downwards where my mood is just getting worse without the lift from my period so it gets worse and worse and worse until... well idk.

TLDR: is it PMDD if my mood doesn't always get better with my period but it does always get worse before it?

My sister leaves the bathroom really messy, what can I do?

I dont know how to deal with this shit anymore. I live with my family cause im 16 and still have 3 more year before university/college. Our family is big enough, im the oldest of 4 children. The others are 14 (almost 15), 12 and 8. My issue (well one of the many I have) is the bathroom situation. All 4 of us share a bathroom which is fine except its sooo horribly messy and icky. My sister (14) just throws empty bowls of noodles in the sink or overflows the bin and dorrito chips fall out onto the floor. Her hair dye is often everywhere, the toilet is almost never flushed and ive had to pick up tampon applicators off the floor before. Like fine enough not wrapping the wrappers of pads and tampons but the actually used things themselves? Thats a bit disgusting... especially with an 8 year old.

Don't get me wrong like I've tried tidying the bathroom before but the next day or two its back to the mess and I probably contribute in some way or other but I genuinely don't know how to deal with this like it's so depressing when you're already having a bad day and just want to brush your teeth or wash up and have a shower and theres food in the sink and wet towels on the floor and forks on the toilet lid.

She has ADHD and autism. Asking her to tidy after herself wont change anything. What do I do?

Is the Institute Good?

Im going into TY this year and considering switching schools for 5th and 6th year because my current school is so depressing and the teachers aren't the best. I know people can get great points without private schools but im looking for quality too and enjoyment so how have people's experiences with the Institue of Education been? Or any other private school. Is it full on grinds, just learn this, do it my way, there's no need to do that, just learn x paragraph, or is there a bit of freedom and passion? Do the teachers care about learning as well as results? What are the facilities like?

Menstrual Cups first time user

I just started using cups today (I'm 16) and its been going fine except I'm not sure if its unfolding properly. I'm using the c fold i think its called. How do I know if its unfolded properly and how do I fix it if it isn't? Also im using mooncup if that changes things. It kinda hurts to put it in- is that normal? And if its too low does it hurt? Cause it kinda hurts now and idk why. Im using the teen size. Also you know the way tampons u cant really use on light flow days because it can feel uncomfortable is it the same with cups? Sorry for all the questions 😅

Private Schools for 5th and 6th year

I just finished the JC exams and I'm going into TY

afterwards though I'm considering going to a private

school for 5th and 6th year. Does anyone

recommend it? Any particularly good ones? What

have been you're experiences? For me it would have

to be boarding too since I dont live near anyone, also

my home can be stressful so I think it would be good

to get a break during the week. What have been

people experiences? Also I'd probably need a

scholarship so if theres good ones you know that

would help too 😊
