Books and Politics 📚

Hey, am really trying to get a deeper understanding of Indian politics; like from history to the present and even where things might head. Do you have any book recommendations that really give a broad picture?

Thankx in advance! ✨

How do freshers get content writing internships?

How do people actually get content writing internships/jobs as freshers 😭

I have no experience. I post content on Medium sometimes and trying to improve my writing but still feel confused where to even start.

Every internship asks for experience already 💀

Any beginner advice?

Starting as a Tutor in South Kolkata; Looking for Advice and Suggestions

Hi everyone,
I have completed my B.A. in Journalism and am currently pursuing my M.A. in Journalism & Mass Communication. Alongside that, I have been thinking of starting a few tuition classes for school students in South Kolkata (English, Bengali, Humanities, writing skills, etc.).

I enjoy explaining topics in a simple way rather than making students memorize answers, and I would love to work with small batches or one-on-one students.

I am curious; for parents or students here, what do you usually look for in a tutor? Also, what is the best way to find students locally these days?

Would genuinely appreciate suggestions or guidance from people who have done this before.

IGNOU MA + UGC NET/JRF + PhD: Realistic Path or Better Alternatives?

I am 26 and planning to start MA Journalism & Mass Communication from IGNOU this July. Is it realistic to prepare for UGC NET or JRF alongside the MA and later pursue a good PhD? Also, are there any other good careers or research paths I should explore in media studies or academia?

Would love advice from people in academia or media studies. 😊✨

Hello everyone 🙏🏼

I’m planning to apply for the upcoming IGNOU(Kolkata) admission for MA in Journalism, and while going through the available courses, I found myself a bit confused. So I had a few questions in mind.

If anyone here is currently pursuing these courses or has completed them, I’d really appreciate some guidance. I wanted to know how the courses actually are.. like, do they conduct practical and theoretical in a proper way? Also, I’m a bit unclear about the study centres(Kolkata), how they work, where they are, and what the experience is like.

And most importantly, how is the career scope after completing an MA in Journalism from IGNOU? Is it genuinely worth it?

Your insights would really help me make a better decision. Thank you so much! 🙏🏼😊

Hi everyone, I really need some career guidance because I have no idea what my next step should be.

I'm 26 (turning 27 this year). I graduated with a BA in Journalism Honours from a college under the University of Calcutta in 2023. Right after graduation, I started preparing for bank exams strictly under the pressure of my parents. It’s been 2.5 years, and I am completely burnt out. I’ve realized I never wanted a banking career, and I desperately want to pivot into something that will provide me mental peace and I can be independent, so I really want to start my actual life.

The catch is my parents just paid ₹24,000 for a weekend coaching institute that has 7 months left. I feel guilty about the money, but I can't keep doing this full-time.

My long-term dream is to save up enough to start some business, but right now, I just need to start earning independently. I have my Journalism degree, a decent typing speed, and I am completely open to entry-level media jobs, back-office work, or even dive into a new career path (I don't know what to do, but I just want to escape this loop).

Some questions about my future are...

What kind of entry-level roles can I realistically apply for right now with a Journalism degree (no experience) and apx. 3-year gap?

How do I explain this 3-year bank prep gap to HR or interviewers during a job hunt?

Where should I even start looking for these back-office or entry-level media jobs or any other field?

Any advice on how to build a career from this point would be a huge help!

Thanks 😊✨
